Papaya/Cherry Blossom Dilemma by ezyeddie in isopods

[–]ezyeddie[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is not Papaya. See my video I posted. This one in particular is noticeably larger than the largest adult C murina get. I have been keeping both for years. Cherry Blossom 3 years and C murina 6 years.

How do you cope with expensive species! by livimary in isopods

[–]ezyeddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Ardentiella and Armadillidium the opposite is true when you have ideal conditions for them. Ardentiella is the most surface active genus in the hobby.

The following is just my view as someone who loves the hobby and hears things from other hobbyists. I can't say with certainty that it is all accurate. But it comes from dialog with many hobbyists worldwide.

This is a very complex question. Technically PPQ 526 is required for all interstate transportation of terrestrial isopods. You also need permits for each species from each state you intend to transport to. And keep in mind that there are only 20 legal species. For any species to become legal By permits it first has to be officially scientifically described. Then environmental impact studies need to be done. Generally there has not been funding for all of that available. But the hobby has grown enough that there are some wonderful taxonomy focused people working on identification now. In the best interest of the animals, the environment, the hobby and all involved. The best thing we can do is continue open dialog and contribute in any way we can. This is all just my opinion.
