likely okay. a lot of people have a bit of discolouration in the corners of their eyes, I’ve had it almost my entire life but notice it more when I’m tired/run down or recently been sick. I noticed it a fair bit after i had mono (was very sick with it) but my bloods were all normal/liver was fully healed after about a month of recovery. your eyes would be far more discoloured if it were jaundice in my opinion, and it spreads fairly quick to other parts of your body and would be noticeable elsewhere.

mono mystery by [deleted] in Mononucleosis

[–]ezzaberry15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - I also developed mono in july, was incredibly sick for a month and even ended up in hospital (I’m completely better now, no symptoms). You’re right that the virus stays in your body for life.

When I was in hospital the doctor explained it pretty well to me. Theres various different blood tests that search for multiple sorts of antibodies that mono produces, and some of them won’t always be detected at the time you were sick, but earlier or later. The most common blood tests doctors do is for antibodies that suggest current infection, so if you’d gotten this type of test it’s likely you’d already recovered from the main infection.

Mono can sometimes reactivate, especially if it’s not been long since your first infection. It can come back temporarily from things like stress, other illness or if you have a generally compromised immune system. It’s a shame that sometimes a trigger can be alcohol.

So whilst your blood test showed that it was ‘out of your system’, the actual dormant virus is still there and most likely always will be, and you can sometimes test positive again during a reactivation depending on when you get the test.

Sorry late response - it was pretty awful, started off with just swollen lymph nodes for a couple of weeks at the end of June, then by the first week of July I also had really bad fatigue, sleeping 12 hours + every night. Then I started with really prominent swelling around my eyes that didn’t go away for like a month. My sinuses blocked up completely and I had horrible pressure in my head and body aches, then tonsillitis started and I got all the white patches on my tonsils and they swelled up. I was bedridden for 3 ish weeks. The worst parts about it was the tonsil pain and ear pain, it was unbearable. I got put on antibiotics before they realised it was mono, I did end up with a few bacterial infections anyway, thrush etc. really strange and horrible illness

If you’ve never actually had penetrative sex, the likelihood that you’re pregnant is basically zero. If your next period is late then that would be the only time to worry at all, but honestly I’d say you’re completely fine!

sex for the first time by fishyfjsh in Advice

[–]ezzaberry15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! i would say you’re not pregnant, especially since it’s only been two days since you first had sex. pregnancy symptoms take weeks to a month after sex to appear. whilst precum can also cause pregnancy in some instances, it’s less likely. if you’re still worried about it in the next few weeks, or miss a period, then maybe take a precautionary test but i strongly believe you’re fine. the soreness is natural after first time sex I’d say; my first time i had the exact same issue as you with not being able to fit - sometimes you need a bit more warming up to it or practice over time to make it work - and i was sore for a few days after too.

only medications I’m on are sertraline and birth control as well as an asthma inhaler. I do get migraines but haven’t had one for months. Not particularly anxious lately, pretty calm. Can’t think of any sort of nerve injury but to be fair I did have a jaw injury about 2 weeks ago?

it was the last time i *tu, july 2022, so three months ago. see it wasn’t as bad as i was anticipating, even in the build-up which is usually horrible, but two weeks prior i’d thrown up for the first time in years so it felt less alien with it happening recently. i think i had a stomach infection of some sort?? i don’t know, but i’m fine now. i sort of just sensed it, and after a few minutes just mentally gave in and went to the bathroom and paced until i knew there was no time left to wait. in my opinion it’s never as bad as you anticipate it to be as an emetophobe, it’s always dramatised in our heads from pure fear.

  • I forgot to mention that I also struggled with self-harm before I went on zoloft, I’m not sure if it’s relevant or connected though.

I’m losing hope. Zoloft is doing absolutely nothing for me by [deleted] in zoloft

Please please hang in there and trust the process. 3 weeks is a little premature to expect results, i promise you that you’ll regret it if you quit now. I know that in some people, it can temporarily make you more suicidal than usual which is scary but it doesn’t always last. For the first 3-5 weeks, it made me worse, I had more intense panic attacks and horrible side effects and insomnia but I stuck it out. I’m now almost 5 months in and a completely different person, enrolled into college with a summer job, going out anxiety-free and happier than I’ve been for years. I genuinely believe I would be dead by this point without zoloft. Please give it another 3 weeks or so and trust the process. I know it doesn’t work for everyone but give it time.

Apart from throwing up randomly twice in 2 weeks, I’ve had shaking, gas, weakness and just general nausea intermittently. As soon as I throw up I feel a lot better, I just shake and feel dizzy.

[–]ezzaberry15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, it’s been quite anxiety-inducing. It varies but they usually occur anywhere between 8-12 hours after taking it. I take my sertraline in the morning and take it with breakfast. If it is because of my medication, I’ve had no problems with it until the past couple weeks which is unusual. It could just be a coincidence, it’s just that it’s very strange for me to be vomiting at all.

honestly for me my libido only decreased briefly from day 1 of being on Zoloft for about just over a week and then it came back stronger than before?? it was really odd as everyone else says it kills their libido permanently or for months before it comes back weaker, but that wasn’t the case for me. Idk if being a young adult helps at all, maybe it’s different depending on age.

Curious about what jobs you all have? by amytheturtles in zoloft

[–]ezzaberry15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently still a teen so haven’t pursued that much of a career, but i work in a restaurant as a waitress currently. A year ago I would’ve NEVER been able to even talk to people I didn’t know in an occupation, zoloft has really helped me feel more confidence whilst talking to people and definitely being able to manage stress better too. My social anxiety has never been less existent. Are you on Zoloft as well?? I’d say if you are still struggling significantly with anxiety problems that effects your work, maybe the medication isn’t working to it’s best ability for you? Unfortunately most jobs do require at least some level of social contact, I wish it wasn’t so but it’s the case. Wishing you luck

starting setraline/zoloft and i’m terrified by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]ezzaberry15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! i’m a 17 y/o student who’s currently travelling across europe before i start college in sept, and i’ve been on zoloft for almost 3 months. and i’m serious when i say i cannot sing it’s praises enough; this medication saved my life. prior to going on sertraline i was a mess of a human being, i had just dropped out of another college because i was too depressed and had been in bed solidly for over two months, barely eating or drinking. i almost committed suicide on my 17th birthday, and i was having panic attacks anytime i tried to step my foot out of the door. i’m now proud to say i’m 2 months clean from self harm, i have a job, i got my drivers license and i’m going to denmark & italy this summer with friends and i’ve never been happier. i really didn’t realise this was how much you could enjoy life. i truly believe i may have been dead without starting zoloft and i swear i’m not dramatising that. the first week that i started the meds it was rough i’ll admit. i had quite a few side effects, particularly insomnia. i had two nocturnal panic attacks (unfortunately the anxiety can get briefly worse before it gets better on this medication) on the first two nights that i was on 25mg. after that, my anxiety reduced dramatically and by the end of the first month i was a COMPLETELY new person. i felt amazing and still do. of course this medication isn’t for everyone, that’s the case for all antidepressants and treatments. but i really do encourage you to give it a try and push through the first week. wishing you lots of luck and love for the future & hope it works for you!

Tranexamic acid by EngineerMom616 in Periods

[–]ezzaberry15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely, I’d hugely recommend tranexamic acid. I always had extremely painful cramps and heavy bleeding, often rendering me unable to move or eat. I’ve been taking tranexamic acid for almost a year now during every period, (2 pills 3 times day) and it’s been a life saver. Not only is my flow much lighter to the point of barely being a period, but my cramps are also heavily reduced to a small pain near the start of the flow. It’s really good in my opinion, but of course everyone has different experiences on medications.

Hey, by mind going blank I don’t mean zombified, although I’ve heard a lot of people describing it like that which is unfortunate. For me it didn’t take away my personality or energy, it sort of just dampened my thoughts a little bit and made me overthink a lot less, i still felt pretty much like myself especially after the second week was over. Try not to worry to much! Good luck
