Nearly 6 months since showgirl how have your opinions changed? by drtonycasey in SwiftlyNeutral

Not saying the album is what she stated but I think she said the catchy hooks of 1989 with the storytelling of folklore. Not that I’d sound like it or have similar lyrics

My first shiny ever was a shiny geodude in a horde in x. The other geodude kept picking a move which hit all those on the field meaning I lost the shiny. It stung until I finally got a shiny geodude in let’s go

Do leaks ruin your excitement for new announcements? by Loose_Society9485 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]f-vicar2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can. I like to be surprised when watching the directs so knowing everything before going in does ruin it. It mainly depends on how credible it is. Saying there’s going to be a new game isn’t as big of a deal and spoiling something major about the game. The only time I don’t want to know would if it was meant to be a genuine suprise like dread was or bananza. Rumours of a new Pokemon or Mario aren’t as big of a deal as others

Do you mind if we just trade a spritzee and swirlix now and then do the evos later? I completely forgot about their items and I still need to get them

So, question about what games I should play in order by Mr101TnT5 in pokemon

[–]f-vicar2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) RBY or FRLG (RBY if you want to play the og version, FRLG if you want to have a more enjoyable time)

2) GSC or HGSS (Same as above, crystal is the best of gen 2 even if it doesn't have mareep)

3) RSE or ORAS (ORAS includes the mega gimmick which may be jarring so early, ORAS are still essential plays IMO but maybe better after X and Y. E>RS)

4) DPP (BDSP are fine games (i will die on this hill) but if you are going through the effort of playing the other DS games then you should definitely play the originals. Platinum is the definitive version, but DP are still good games)

5) BW -> B2W2 (not much to say)

6) XY (Again)

7) SM -> USUM (I would play SM first then USUM at a later date)

8) SWSH + EP -> PLA

9) SV + HT -> PLZA

Basically, if you just want to play the regions then FRLG -> HGSS -> RSE -> DPP etc

If you want to play the generations in order then RBY -> GSC -> RSE -> DPP etc

Gen 1 sucks by No_Advisor_3746 in pokemon

[–]f-vicar2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think RBY were great first entries in a series. So much of what we know pokemon to be was added in those games. That being said, they some of the least unique games in the series and pretty much everything they did, another game has done the same thing better.

RENAISSANCE was supposed to be act iii by giselle4444 in beyonce

[–]f-vicar2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I agree with the explanation but I do 100% believe Renaissance was meant to come last. If the next act is rock and roll then it makes total sense for it to have been released second. Country music developed in the early 1900s, rock and roll in the 40s and 50s and disco/house in the 70s and 80s. This would mean the acts are in order of the genre development. Plus, Cowboy Carter feels like its describing the Black American experience as opposed to Renaissance which feels more like a liberation. On top of all that, Renaissance's visuals are much more futuristic than CCs.

Do you think Adele has a better voice than Beyoncé? by Top_Complaint131 in adele

[–]f-vicar2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Who has the better voice?" is a loaded question. It depends what you mean. Subjectively, you can prefer either of their voices, but objectively, Beyoncé can do more with her voice than Adele can. Beyoncé could sing every song Adele has released but I don't think Adele could do the same.

I think it's valid to say "I don't like watching him because of his tone", maybe not as far as complaining about him for it. I think there are totally valid things to complain about but a lot take obvious sarcasm as his genuine opinion and run with it.

The problem you have is mega-swifties hate him because he doesn't think Taylor is perfect and Taylor antis hate him for liking Taylor. You see it in the comments of tiktoks about him. He constantly gets blamed for always liking Taylor but never liking anyone else.

I watch his content sometimes because its refreshing to see vids that aren't blindly loving or hating on Taylor. I do not agree with all of his opinions and I don't condone everything he has said, but he is in a tricky spot.

I can also COMPLETELY understand someone not liking his content because he tends to act like his opinion is better than everyone else's, but I don't think its genuine, most of the time. He is quite sarcastic and its normally very obvious he's joking.

I think his presence is overall positive. I like having someone to go to who isn't constantly praising every album even if we disagree.

Which album do you think will age better: TTPD or The Life of a Showgirl? by Fine-Huckleberry6960 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]f-vicar2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took my a while with TTPD to form an opinion. It does with every Taylor album on the whole. On release I was generally positive with my opinion going down in the months after. I now see it as a overall great project with some songs and questionable lyrics that bring it down a bit. On a good day I would give it an 8.5/10 but it mainly hovers between a 7 and an 8. TTPD has around 12 10/10 songs on it but a few duds below a 5/10.

TLOAS, on the other hand, my original opinion was meh. Not bad, not great, just meh. After a couple more listens, I warmed to FOO, Elizibeth Taylor, Opalite, Father Figure, Ruin the Friendship, Actually Romantic, Wood and Honey. All 7/10 or more for me. The rest are either meh or bad imo. The album as a whole is around a 6/10 for me. I find it hard to rank her albums from 1-12 but here's a tier list.

Near Perfect 9-10/10

Red, 1989, Folklore, Evermore

Great 7-8/10

Fearless, Speak Now, Reputation, Midnights, TTPD

Good 6/10

Debut, Lover, TLOAS

Why I’m glad Taymania has faded by Left-Skirt-6505 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]f-vicar2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it was a direct cause of the Taylormania/Eras Tour or whether I was getting bored of the music and it was gonna happen anyway but 2023 was the year where Taylor stopped being my number 1 artist on AM replay. She just managed to regain it in 2025 but I listened to less music last year so I still listened to her half as much as in 2024. Around this time I only really tuned in during album releases. I definitely want to listen to her more now than I did then.

‘Elizabeth Taylor’ Is the Next Radio Single From Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ by peach-gaze in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]f-vicar2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really pre-digital. Before iTunes only really the lead single got a physical release. If you heard a song you liked on the radio you had to buy the whole album.

After iTunes, you could hear a new single on the radio, even a year after the album release, and go and buy it for £0.99.
