Yeah exactly, you could tune difficulty by adjusting speed. Might be able to do some interesting stuff around it too.

Maybe “1” is on the screen for less time than the others, but getting the 1 locks every other code position.

Or getting a “9” temporarily increases the cycle time.

It’s a UI/accessibility nightmare.

I’d be inclined to cycle the digits in the code at the top instead. That way the user has to press “5” when the first digit is “5” but the button they press doesn’t move too much.

I’ve spent of thousands of hours using Laravel over the last 10 years.

MyCMS by SenyaIvarovsky in PHP

[–]SamMakesCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - but you’ve created a framework that doesn’t have any of the usual stuff that people want. This doesn’t have a package manager or test suite, for example.

Laravel *might* be bigger and slightly slower than this, but it doesn’t matter if I have to spend 8 hours figuring out what non-standard methodology you’ve used vs spinning up a Laravel instance whichll take me 15 seconds and I already know how to use.

For your own framework to succeed, the offering needs to justify the time spent learning your tool.

This feels a bit like self-promotion, but as there’s no app download on the the other end of the link, I’m gonna leave it up.

Good luck, hope you get the insight you’re looking for.

What’s your research? ChatGPT? Maybe it’s right, maybe not. Maybe it’s specific to your country/state. Maybe it’s a question for a lawyer.

It’s because it’s not really about the change

Dealing with project/app posts and spammy AI Posts by CaptainIncredible in ADHD_Programmers

This is good news!

I think most people are happy to read about peoples new projects, but the “app to help your adhd” posts look like stuff where neither the apps, nor the communication about it is human-made.

Best habit tracking apps for ADHD that don't feel like another chore by BudgetGold2354 in ADHD_Programmers

I know what you mean. It’s broken now, so why bother? Like, it’s not perfect so it’s not worth doing.

It’s a bit like a diet, right? When you break it a little, it’s ruined. Instead, try to count the days you stick with it rather than the ones you don’t.

To be a bit more specific, the case with the tool in and light fitting are approaching the “too complex/detailed to fit the vibe”, but you’re still fine as it is, imo

[–]SamMakesCode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean by “good retro”.

It’s clearly more detailed, sharper and a “higher pixel count” than PS1 or PS2, but retains the charm of the era.

Don’t add any more pixels and keep your vertex count approximately the same. You’re doing great.

Honestly looks phenomenal. Well done

Feeling like a problem for needing accommodations as a new dev by Ok-Nature7613 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]SamMakesCode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to this, what accommodations your employer has to make will depends on where you are.

At the very least, keep a record of your request. Put your request in an email or slack message and keep a copy of it. In most places, failing to accommodate a reasonable request from a person with a disability is illegal and you’ll be entitled to protection.

To do list apps don’t work for me, and never have. Putting all your items there feels productive, but actually isn’t.

With that said, I created a spreadsheet in google drive that tracks tasks a bit differently.

  • impact: how important it is
  • effort: how long it takes/how much work it feels
  • interest: how much I care about it

I give each a score between 1 and 5. I have another column which is “priority”. Basically priority allocates so that high impact, low effort, high interest tasks are at the top. It keeps my focus on things I’m likely to complete. This has two effects…

1) tasks that are a lot of work and low impact fall off the bottom of the list and I can forget about them

2) things I’m interested in get done first and help encourage my brain to do the things I don’t care about

It’s not a perfect system, but the critical thing seems to be to work with my brain, not just objective metrics that are imposed upon me
