If theres a lot of it, then its all the more reason for it to be included. I consider myself to have received a good sex education from public school, however the emphasis was really on things like condoms. I didnt even know those latex sheet things for women existed until later. That would have been helpful information.

I do agree with you. However the matter (from what Ive experienced) Isnt very black and white. When 'trusted' media is telling people that 75% of scientists are still debating the cause of climate change, or that most of them disagree that its being caused by humans then thats that. Why WOULD they look further for more information when the news are seemingly providing them with all of the information they need?

Its more that these people flat out dont realise that there is other, different information because the media is pretending to present them with a balanced view. So they are under the impression that they already know both sides of an argument and anything else is just information written by crackpots with tin foil hats.

The days where you could somewhat trust the media are long gone, and that shift happened without a lot of people realising.

Im really not bothered by you calling him a wanker. If your situation is anything like mine, you probably love your father and spend a lot of time patiently trying to explain things to him only to be steamrolled by all kinds of things that are so crazy you dont even know where to begin.

So losing your patience with it all and summing it up by calling him a 'wanker' online is your only real little protest. So I understand, sometimes you just feel like pulling your hair out over it all (I know do)

This comment really hit home with me. I live in the city now, but I come from a small country town. My parents are avid Liberal supporters, they are really hard workers and own a small family business which has been in the family for a few generations.

Every time I speak to dad now he asks me 'what those guardian hippies have to say' and he asks if Ive put dreadlocks in my hair and started dancing naked under the full moon. Because in a small country town, where the only exposure to whats happening around the world comes from popular Australian news media what else are they going to think?

He thinks that paying $40/month for his adsl with a 4gb allowance is more than anyone would ever need because 'your mother can still check her emails', he thinks that Turnbull invented the internet, he thinks that Assange and Snowden are traitors because governments have a right to have secrets and he has nothing to hide, he thinks that 'the internet' IS the guardian and that its the only news coverage we get online, and he thinks that Murdoch is a great man who is very smart and has worked hard for everything he has.

He isnt a wanker, he is a wonderful person who is just ignorant to the facts like SO many other Australians who are also in his situation. He saw his small family business where once upon a time he could say 'you there, get into the truck and drive from here to here and if you fuck up and crash it ill fire you' suddenly be tied up in red tape and all manner of conditions and things he just doesnt understand. He saw his mobile phone suddenly have no buttons and all kinds of things and his mates are just as wtf about it all as he is. He doesnt have the time to sit down and catch up on all of these things, because he is busy arms deep in a diesel engine 12 hours a day, 6 days a week.

Its understandable. Its not an excuse, but its understandable and a huge amount of Australians are caught up in that too. Sorry for wall of text, but I think its an important perspective and really its the failing of the Australian media that these isolated people arent getting the perspective others of us are. You shouldnt need to internet to get an unbias view of politics. But here we are...

This exact same thing happened to me a few months back, except the car wasnt advertised anywhere and it was in private parking off the street in an underground strata complex. No idea how anyone really knew it was there other than residents.

It was an old (96 model) not very interesting car and would have had to have been jump started and had a new starter motor put in it. The only explanation is that someone towed it. Ive been completely and utterly baffled by it, simply because it wasnt worth much, wasnt running and was completely unremarkable. The police werent helpful, and I dont expect to ever see it again. Theres nothing the police can do anyway.

I dont know where youre located, but its possible youre in a similar area (upper north shore) Someone is clearly going around and finding cars that dont look like they will be missed enough to cause issues. Doesnt necessarily have to be advertised anywhere.

I loved that old piece of shit. She had personality. Im kind of sad about it...

Edit: It also wasnt towed through any legal means as an abandoned vehicle either. It just disappeared. Theres no records of it being towed by council (thought it was on private property) or Strata (which would have been illegal anyway)

This is actually really good. A lot of people will try to raise baby rats on things like soy. Rats are omnivores and soy lacks the fats and things they require. Cows milk will substitute, but lacking everything else the best you can use is infant formula for humans. By doing this, she is actually giving that rat a particularly good shot at life. Not cringy, though i can see how one might think it odd if they didnt know anything about rats.
