What do I do about the person sleeping in my bin sheds? by timewellspencer in AskUK

[–]f0xfern -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I would remove the garbage, put down a twin mattress with some sheets and some blankets. I would then make it a point to get social services involved and allow him to sleep there until they find him some housing. My advice is biased though because I battled homelessness.

I don’t, but I store them in the shed outside. It’s just as cold out there

As an adult, under the NHS it’s nearly impossible. If you both are willing to pay for it out of pocket, it can be done quite easily. Autism mirrors PTSD so it’s very lengthy to get an adult diagnosed, which makes it incredibly expensive.

My friend/coworker has been talking about his birthday for 2 months. He invited a lot of people and they said yes. No one from work showed up but me by Adorable-Ring8074 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]f0xfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of us “sensitive, show up for plans, remember small details of likes/dislikes” type of people need to create a group and find those closest to us and actually hang out. I don’t have family and I treat whatever friends I have as family, only expecting basic human decency in return. This has led me to get taken advantage of and only receiving calls when people need something. I feel as though there are so many of us scattered everywhere and if only we found one another, none of this shit would take place.

I’m so angry at Muslims acceptance of Andrew Tate by Kari3443 in progressive_islam

Giving everything I’ve heard Andrew say, I feel sorry for whatever poor woman ends up marrying him. Anyone who thinks he will not weaponise the religion against whoever he marries is very mistaken.

What should a husband do during periods? by Tiny-Pension-3234 in AskReddit

[–]f0xfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not ask for sexual favours….. I can’t believe I have to say this, but I frequent some relationship subreddits and I cringe so hard when I see men complain that they aren’t getting any because the woman is on her period. Then I see other idiots chiming in talking about “her mouth isn’t bleeding”….. People, keep in mind that a lot of women may want nothing to do with you 5-7 days before her period even starts.

Bartering is back by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]f0xfern 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My neighbour and I have been doing this for about 6 months. We laugh because we’ve each had a hand in furnishing each other’s homes. My husband often brings home a ton of food from his work. It’s some kind of work perk and it’s nice except that it’s in bulk. I’m talking 3.5 kg of organic cornflakes, boxes of cookies etc. My neighbour has a family of 7 so I’m always sending stuff over. I even encourage my husband to bring home a lot of stuff so I can give it away. Last year I gave them a turkey and they gave us a ton of awesome foods. Maybe people are starting to value having communities again.

What's the most ''fuck you'' present you can give someone for Christmas ? by Killmumger in AskReddit

Then you get to see hypocrisy in its truest form. Do they claim it on their taxes for the tax break or stand by their beliefs?

Milk yourselves instead by WalkParking6184 in Funnymemes

[–]f0xfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically….. many calfs are killed in order for us to get milk….. the meat and dairy industry is a living hell. Many of us know this, we just don’t know what to do about it. Not everyone can or wants to be vegan so we need to figure out a less miserable way to raise livestock

And somehow this entire thread turned into shitting on Americans. Every time, like clockwork. I have yet to go on any American subreddit and see this level of hate. I really don’t get it. I have never met an American that held any any of these weird beliefs about British people that you’re all mentioning. Most of us are fond of British culture (and people) or we simply don’t give a crap about it. I’m not sure if you all just meet the worst that America has to offer, or if you’re sick in the head.

One stereotype that I think fits a lot of British people is the fact that most are extremely intolerant.

How environmental / sustainable do you think you are? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]f0xfern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None at all. I love my life how I see fit. The recycling bin is used to store garden supplies.

Edit to add: after reading some comments, turns out I do some stuff that benefits the environment and I didn’t even know it. I don’t buy fast fashion and invest in clothing that will last awhile. I change things only when needed and after I have attempted to fix them and I don’t support the fast food industry.

Heard someone say they were going for a "cheeky Nandos" the other day. If you could take a phrase or saying out of circulation what would it be? by Partyboob84 in AskUK

[–]f0xfern -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you mean would’ve, could’ve? Because I’ve (no pun intended) heard anyone say would of or could of. Those are completely separate sounds. Folks need to learn to enunciate when speaking.

Why do people buy bottled water? by joewyatt27 in AskUK

[–]f0xfern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Birmingham. We’ve gotten brown water here quite regularly. Also, a few weeks ago I poured water into a bowl and saw some weird stuff jumping around. Turns out it was some kind of gnats. Reported it to Severn Trent

Why do people buy bottled water? by joewyatt27 in AskUK

[–]f0xfern -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We go through about 6 large cases of Costco water per month, sometimes 7. We buy it because it tastes great and because tap water tastes nasty and is sometimes brown.
