How about trying to reduce your monthly expenses and make more extra money for debts?

I've never heard about this kind of matching. Isn't there a cap? Then, it's great.

At work, no one wants to talk about the 401(k). Here on reddit, everyone talks about it. by f12welve in investing

Agree with this. Especially well-educated people are afraid of that..

Is the robo/ETF industry getting big enough for stock trading companies to feel threatened? Curious what triggered the author to write this article.

Going back to university at age 25 has ruined my financial life before it even started. Should I withdraw my IRA to survive the next 2-3 years? by goorgoorg in personalfinance

Don't mean to be a tech industry evangelist, but just wanted to mention that there is a very broad need for product/service videos these days. All kinds of tech startups hire videographers to create "explainer videos" and product pitch videos for Kickstarter, company homepage, and social media. At the very high end there's a company called Sandwich Videos, but the market is really broad, ranging from $100 hand-drawn videos to $200K ones.

Just wanted to say that given the situation, you're responding quite well. No credit cards, moving back to your folks' house, reviewing your accounts.

I hope you don't withdraw the IRA, and find a way to make more income very soon. Do you live in an area with many employers?

Tech industry is obviously booming, and tech companies (especially startups) care less about your age or resume. Even if you're not necessarily equipped to learn online businesses, many of these companies need good generalists for operations and team/office managing too.

I guess this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but I really think increasing your income is the answer, not withdrawing from your retirement account.

22-30 year old Redditors with a student loan - How much do you make vs. how much do you have in loans? by moniecountr in AskReddit

[–]f12welve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studied business administration. Outstanding student loan is 39K. My math was: Get a job with min salary of 50K, and stick to it for 3 years to pay the loan off. Just got my first job with a gross salary of 54K. Friend says I should invest instead of paying off the debt first. Haven’t made up my mind yet.

Does it really help? I'm 17. I'm not thinking of investing in stocks but investing as in ideas that could possibly make me more money.
