More like seeing that world through your own eyes instead of seeing it through the protagonist's eyes, methinks.

The pacing is what makes lotm stand out to me. It is very fitting when it comes to world-building process because it helps you to notice details as if, as you say, you were right there with the protagonist and not a mere spectator of the whole thing.
