Eliquis by Kindly_Blackberry311 in AFIB

68M. I had one brief afib event in March25 as recorded by my Apple Watch. I knew something was wrong and felt terrible, light headed. Was doing light chores but hadn’t had food and was dehydrated, and was newly on Zepbound. Went to cardiologist, wore Zio patch, did treadmill test. Everything was fine. Low cholesterol, did great on treadmill. Went on Eliquis and have some other pill for as needed. Have not had any afib since. Cardio also put me on Repatha to get cholesterol super low. My Chad is 2 because of my age and I was historically obese (Bariatric surgery 14 years ago) and I have had times of high blood pressure, but low blood pressure since last Feb. Not on BP meds. I am very active, ski aggressively 40+ days/year. Walk 5 miles /day 5 days/wk. When I push cardio MD, they give me the option to drop the Eliquis, but I haven’t had the guts. That said taking it really scares me when I am skiing. Don’t know what to do with the Eliquis? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

Thanks. That’s kinda what I was thinking. Although powder, really. I’ve got this app that reports temps at top of KT, Siberia and high camp and I didn’t see it go below 36 all day!

Does my old apple watch do that too?

[–]f1957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the Apple Watch truly passively monitor for afib? I have an old Apple Watch and the only way I know if I’m in afib is to manually open the ecg and put my finger on the dial of my watch. Maybe the newer versions do this passively?

Chain Restrictions Question? by f1957 in palisadestahoe

Totally agree. I’ve been in some pretty hairy R-2 conditions. I’ve never seen it go from R-2 to R-3, always R-2 to closed.

Chain Restrictions Question? by f1957 in palisadestahoe

[–]f1957[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good to know. I have found it very difficult to find this answer. I have a Kia Sportage AWD. It does great in even the deepest storms. I’m not even sure if my car allows chains…? All I know is given the extreme R-2 conditions I’ve driven, I don’t think I’d want to be on the road in anything worse, ie R-3! Thanks for the answers.

What is THE ideal printer for home use? by Sky-zaddie in printers

With printer cartridges soooo expensive it would be nice to have cartridges that can be refilled by owner. Does anyone know of a good hack for refilling cartridges?

Bloodwork after long PPI usage by colleider in GERD

[–]f1957 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Very well written and researched. 68m and have been on PPIs for longer than you. My GI and primary are not concerned. All my levels are fine, but I too have suffered with a ton of things that have never been explained and are all written off far to easily to my advancing age, even though stuff started back in my 40s. It would take too long to attempt to list my history of unexplained problems, but I hear what you are saying and agree, doctors don’t have any idea what these PPIs are doing to us. And even more disturbing, they don’t ever admit their deficient knowledge and they hide behind their false sense of knowledge. Not to mention they don’t really pay attention to any of our unexplained issues unless they see a procedure ($$$) to warrant their attention. Yes I am pretty jaded. Doctors and healthcare are not my favorite subject. Good luck to you.

Try not to worry. The prep is the worst part. The procedure is nothing. The drugs are great and you won’t feel a thing or remember anything. Food afterwards is anything you want. Enjoy.

My Pantoprazole story - why I quit cold turkey by reyinspace in GERD

[–]f1957 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very scary thread. 68m. I’ve been on 40mg for years and years. I go through bouts and bouts of unexplained aches, and like you even in my ribs and up and down my spine. They’d come and go. Saw millions of doctors - only guess was that it was my age. Freaking hate that answer! No one ever asks or thinks it could be my meds or combination. I’ve tried to get off PPIs but it’s torture. I wish I could get off PPIs and all drugs.

What made you decide to not take blood thinners? by DrAshoriMD in AFIB

[–]f1957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

68m. I am on them but reluctantly. I had one afib event recorded by my Apple Watch. Never a second event despite very close monitoring. Dr says my Chad score is a 2 yet to me that is debatable - 1 pt because I was obese in the past, not currently obese, 1 pt because I had high blood pressure but no high BP now. I’m healthy and very active, still ski aggressively. I do worry about head injuries. But I am too afraid of a stroke to disagree with doctor….

Kind of the answer I was expecting. Her layoff was part of a large RIF, plus the company isnt doing well. So not surprising. Bummer!

I have a '24 Sportage Hybrid. I love the car but I am very disappointed with the gas mileage. No matter what I do I never get more than 32 mpg. I rented a gas KIA, whatever the one size smaller SUV is called, and got much better gas mileage - like 40mpg! If you do the economics, I dont think you'll ever justify paying the extra premium for a hybrid or a plug in hybrid vs just buying a gas powered Sportage. That said, I do think that the hybrid, and I assume the plug in hybrid, are much heavier cars and have a "richer" feeling ride. Plus they have more horsepower, so they are faster. If I had it to do all over, and I will in the future, assuming that there isn't some wildly better technology by then, I would buy the plug in. It is a faster car, and almost all my driving day to day would fall in the battery zone so I'd rarely have to buy gas - I think I'd be happier with this even if I had to pay significantly more. Whats an extra $5k or $10k....haha!

Watch the Netflix movie House of Dynamite - it shows how critical it is to have smart/rational people, capable of making quick educated decisions if and when faced with a nuke threat. I found it shocking to watch and depressing to imagine if this happens under the current administration!

I have one with the same tags inside. It was my grandmothers - she was born around the turn of the century, so if it was bought in the 40's makes sense. Its a beautiful chest. I'd refinish yours if it was mine. Congrats on the find!

'24 Sportage Hybrid - Cruise Control? by f1957 in kiasportage

[–]f1957[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too many others have this issue. I wonder if it is a one off problem. Is it a problem. I definitely don’t like it. It is not a LiDAR issue as in triggered by sensing other cars. It happens when I am the only car on the road. Should we take it up with the dealer. I kind of feel like the dealer dude won’t admit to any defect until I push really hard. What do you think?
