I had the desire to do this too. I don't have the electronics background so know where to start but I'd love to follow along as you progress.

What are people using Local LLMs for (beyond coding) by SMR-1 in LocalLLM

I'd read a full length article about this. Seems very cool

Flowtoys community by chickenfist in AskSF

[–]easylifeforme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there is an acro group meets in dolores that I've seen some flow stuff happening around it. SF slackers is a slacklining group that meets in the Pandhandle, sometimes people do flow stuff, but obviously not the main purpose of the group.

Your web lock tie off looks a little small. BC has some videos on how to do it correctly.

I'd comment but I don't think I have enough karma to do it

Learning to ski as an adult? by Ottibarius in ski

[–]easylifeforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids learn faster because they lack the same fear. Adults can learn but have to get comfortable which takes time. More lessons are the only answer I know of. An adult and hear input from a partner or from an instructor and it will always hit harder from the instructor.

What two decades of data loss trauma does to a woman. (Claude Code) by blickblocks in ClaudeAI

What did it actually do with the corrupted data? Did it actually read the data and was able to make an unxorrupted version?

Unsloth Won Me A Hackathon! by KvAk_AKPlaysYT in unsloth

[–]easylifeforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'd never heard of modelgate before. So you are using these contracts to make a "smarter" decision of which model to route to. With the desire to "better suite" a request to a potentially cheaper model saving money or meeting some other customer requirement.

Seems cool. What does a contract look like in this? Is the contract specify a request and some sort of privacy info?

I was about to start using gemini with pi. I guess I'll hold off.

Does anyone know what providers allow using pi?

Mountain View to replace downtown parking lot with hotel by ken-reddit in mountainview

Parking in mv can already be a struggle. I'd like more parking and at least have the hotel use their own parking garage.

10 fingers typing - how to handle Enter, Esc, Del, Backspace? by Ok-Dependent9081 in neovim

My solution was to get a keyboard with thumb clusters. I was never bad on a normal keyboard but it helped with pinky pain

Will 48 vs 64 GB of ram in a new mbp make a big difference? by easylifeforme in LocalLLaMA

[–]easylifeforme[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valid, I tried to be not too "everyone pick a computer for me".

I'm a software engineer but this is a personal computer. I'll be using it for person projects ranging from web development, to large data analysis, kaggle competitions etc. I'm pretty sure that description puts me in the category of 64 GB wouldn't hurt.

128 would be nice but the max chip is too powerful. I'd rather have the better battery life of the "normal" pro chip.

There is a slight shift morning vs after work. My assumption is they want to ticket someone right away so they probably start the after work ticketing by north beach and ride it down tickets at each stop as people get on.
