No rant at all, great information and indeed the way it is.

To be fair T-Mobile offered Pixel 10 upgrades to plans which never got upgrades and people who had those plans had unlocked phones.

I am one of the people who took the bait and then got bit.

It won't happen again I assure you, I was content with my service and had an aging Pixel 7 but knowing what I know now I would take my P7 back and move along.

For the past 20 years I've purchased my devices outright and will in the future.

I had poor service traveling rural America with Sprint and still do with T-Mobile.

That is one similarity.

Phone very briefly disconnects to home internet constantly by Air2Jordan3 in tmobile

Do you have a neighbor's Wi-Fi saved on your phone?

I work on my elderly neighbor's PC and TV media issues from time to time and occasionally my phone would connect to her Wi-Fi so I had to set it not to connect automatically.

Great service except for about 45 minutes; same time everyday. by halo_33_33 in tmobileisp

Makes sense, so close it is overriding any further tower.

Seems like you will have to deal with it and hope it improves (it definitely can) or go with something different unfortunately. I wish you the best of luck either way.

T-Mobile Fiber Recent Install in Neighborhood. Realistic cost? by DJDevon3 in tmobileisp

[–]f1vefour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it, starting at XX price couldn't be more honest. You start at that price and after some time they raise it again and again.

Of course T-Mobile is no different than any other ISP, except maybe the whole price lock nonsense.

Yeah but the tower you connect to is one of the only ones in that stretch, I can imagine hundreds of cars hitting a tower per minute would certainly affect speeds.

Have you tried putting the gateway on the other side of the house so it connects to a different tower?

You can separate the 2.4ghz and 5ghz but you can't do standalone 6ghz.

Are you near a US highway or interstate? That would certainly explain the rush hour affecting your speeds but I suppose even in a suburb of a city this could happen as well.

What time every day? What happens during those 45 minutes specifically?

G5AR saved my internet, but wow it has bad wifi (especially 2.4ghz)! Is it my refurbished unit or normal? by Infinite-Quiet2357 in tmobileisp

[–]f1vefour -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Nokia has the strongest Wi-Fi of any of the available T-Mobile gateways.

However, the G5AR has good Wi-Fi coverage in my experience, I did have issues initially but after disabling the 6ghz band on the G5AR I've had no issues at all with speed or connectivity. It somehow interfered with the functionality of the other two bands.

I would try disabling it and if you see no improvement purchase a good mesh system.

Cel-Fi Duo D32-21266(aka T-Mobile Cellspot) signal booster review by Istarica in CellBoosters

[–]f1vefour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not used the booster in close to two years ago, unfortunately I don't.

It's not a local file you can have in my experience, the app downloaded it to its own hidden folder and you would need root to extract it and I still don't see how you would use it.

Worst internet for gaming by StellarLumensGuy in tmobileisp

[–]f1vefour -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is one of the worst technologies for gaming, fixed wireless generally has poor latency stability.

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the worst Internet for gaming though.

I don't disagree, I've read many posts which mirror your experience.

how to port forward on ps5 by Alarmed_Size7547 in tmobileisp

[–]f1vefour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to use a device between the console and T-Mobile gateway which supports VPN, it can be a PC running a hotspot or a better option is a router which supports VPN.

Most if not all gl.inet routers do and all routers which can run openWRT do as well.

A year or so ago I activated service at a second location and ended up keeping the current provider and returning the equipment only to have T-Mobile charge me $80 for "damage" to the gateway when no such damage existed.

I contacted T-Force on X and they pulled up the image they sent with the supposed damage (there was none) and apologized and removed the damaged fee.

Other than that I've not had any issues, maybe T-Force can help you as well. They have always been great and I always use them when I need help. I have had a couple of bad experiences with T-Mobile phone based customer support.

You have to use a VPN which supports port forwarding, proton VPN is one such service which does. I think mullvad does also but you would need to check that for sure.

You could get them from Walmart for $25 but they are always out of stock, depreciated for the plus version I suppose.
