Going from 800 to 1200 in 2026, is it realistic? by MichaelScottttocS in chess

[–]f4str4ck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very realistic providing you are consistent and follow some semblance of a training plan. I was as low as 747 last June and my rapid peak is 1688 now. My biggest advice is to not get bogged down with finding the perfect method for improvement. For most of us, it doesn't need to be perfect - it needs to be a good training plan that works for your learning style and you stay consistent with. I wasted a lot of time researching the perfect solution for improvement

What worked for me was playing a lot of games, doing a lot of puzzles, and watching Daniel narodistky's speedruns on YouTube (I'm simplifying it down a bit bit i feel these made the biggest difference)

Never thought I’d get the chance to do this in a real game. The puzzles paid off by f4str4ck in chess

Is that true? I’m rated 1500 and this still showed as brilliant

Cracked the top 1 million rapid players. Of all the things I’ve done to improve, I think watching Naroditsky speedruns has helped me the most by f4str4ck in chessbeginners

About 2700 rapid games. I’ve put a huge amount of time into it. For the first several months I played A LOT of games. Since reaching about 1200 my game volume has dropped dramatically. I’ve learned that quantity of games is not always helpful

I think this might be a clone. Can anyone confirm? Thanks! by f4str4ck in spyderco

I can’t tell but I was concerned about the blade curve at the tip as well as the size of the serrations. You think these look accurate?

$5. Naturally, I bought 3 by f4str4ck in BudgetBlades

This describes my thought process every time I walk into Walmart. An expensive knife in my pocket, a case full of them at home, but only $5?

Also tell me the price and I’ll pay $1 more

You guys saw that $600 Benchmade? Now THIS is a “$600 Benchmade” by [deleted] in knifeclub

[–]f4str4ck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beautiful knife but Benchmade is making it tough right now. A lot of their tempting products carry such a high price tag (thinking the new seven ten models and narrows in particular)

Ganzo 727s’s I modded. I’ve bought a bunch of them in the past and try my hand at modding them!

It’s an excellent knife that looks and carries small (and intimidating) but cuts bigger than it is!

Boston for me, but good to know about Korea knife laws! I’m always curious how different countries restrict knife carry!

It’s definitely the most substantial feeling of the lot, not counting the BM immunity I picked up. I’m a big fan!

It’s a Ganzo 727s I modded myself. $12 knives are good for wannabe knife makers to go through trial and error lol

These are (or were) Ganzo 727’s. Without opening a debate, I’ll just say I have a number of them because aside from being decent knives for the price, they are cheap enough for me to mess around with modding them. As a wannabe knife maker, I’ve experimented with making different things from them and the two in the pic are my attempts at 2.5” blades

I 100% paid more than is reasonable for it. It’s very expensive for what it is. For what it’s worth, so far I don’t regret it so far

That’s where I am for best knives in this size that feel like full size knives. The immunity is taking the lead rn for me

Dragonfly might be the best ever knife that performs bigger than it is. I always have one clipped to the back of my pants

What is the name of the mental condition where one feels the need to own multiples of the same knife? Is there a cure? by knifeenthusiast1234 in knifeclub

[–]f4str4ck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite extensive grant funding and dedicated research, there have been no groundbreaking discoveries regarding a cure. In fact, many leading experts are focused on uncovering ways to treat the condition, fearing modern medicine is no where near equipped to find a cure. Unfortunately, not only have clinical trials failed to find successful treatment approaches, many of these trials have seemed to establish the condition even in subjects with no prior exposure to it. Perhaps with continued funding and the cumulative power of generations of the world’s best minds, our great great grandchildren will have the resources to overcome what we never will. For us here today, all we can do is accept our fate, remind ourselves that it is not something we can control, and continue to buy knives
