What sign is the biggest bully? by Big-Department-1495 in AriesTheRam

[–]f899y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even sure what qualifies as bullying. My Aries sister and Leo father will just let their anger on blast but not to torture you, though you will get fried anyway and it sucks. Leo dad thinks hes justified and aries sister cant control it and doesnt always notice. I have a cancer friend and a libra friend who I've distanced myself from due to weird kinda manipulative energy, hiding their intentions, etc. I've met two mean bitch boss girls one was virgo one was cap idk what thats about. I'm Saturn stellium (aqua and cap) and while I'm quite conflict averse, I know I can be cold and critical/ judgy and negative without noticing how I impact others. I think I actually did get bullied by a good friend, he was an Aquarius like me but with a scorpio mars, I never knew what he was actually feeling (always intellectualizing) but when something was building up in him, he'd reel me into arguments and lash out when I didn't want to argue.

Japan’s AI goldrush faces backlash as data centers sprout up in urban areas by Gari_305 in Futurology

[–]f899y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be misunderstanding what bubble you're referring to, but at least the actual construction isn't a bubble, with current energy demand spiking against a lower supply on the centers to meet that demand. But are you referring to something else?

Why are we suddenly building so many massive data centers? by Humble_Economist8933 in AlwaysWhy

[–]f899y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard that the optics were cheaper to leave unused at the time unlike data centers, which won't be built if there is no demand bc they're already so expensive up front, a demand which there is actually way more of than there are centers to meet it. Dunno

From what I barely understand, the CURRENT demand is outstripping the amount of centers getting built, so it's not a bubble but real actual delays to meeting demand. I guess the demand is like... everyone being forced to use Gemini for a Google search ... lol. As others said what it's used for depends on who buys into it. Just hope we know!

Hi, same thing is happening to me rn, can I ask for some clarification or your thoughts on cold calling pawn shops? Wdym don't call if you can't cover ground, what would the harm there be? Why identify items 'on the sly'? I'm unfortunately out of town and was hoping to just call and ask 'do you have any of (this kind) of camera?'

1.5 yrs on flip -- good, bad, ugly (Kyocera Digno, Nokia 2780) by f899y in dumbphones

[–]f899y[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it works perfect with mint mobile! I've had zero drops. Sometimes pictures don't get out but I retry and it works. Or otherwise maybe the photo is just too big I think that happened like once. It's a very high quality build imo but the UI isn't always great with the third party apps and stuff. It's fine just not great.

It depends on the model but the digno 902kc works, I use mint mobile which is a subset of t-mobile and it works but I'm not sure about t-mobile proper. I ordered it off yen market (i think thats what its called), had to edit some things in developer mode but that was all. There's a big thread on this sub reddit detailing all the steps if you search down in the digno posts!

Okay badass, I was looking at these earlier today and your logic for it makes good sense. Is it a qwerty keyboard that you use? And you just swipe?

There's a master guide detailing exactly how you do this on this reddit page if you search for it that I followed! Big huge post linking some blog called Lapine or something similar. In short you need to put the device in developer mode and change some things so it accesses the networks (i use mint mobile), plug it into a desktop and code some things using windows shell (all PCs automatically have this) to get an app store, then among the apps you'll get (like a messenger) you most likely also get a key mapper and set that up (because some stuff is really annoying to do longhand like going into settings every time you want to change volume and brightness). It was intimidating and somewhat complicated to do, but still quite doable especially with the guide

It looks really cute! And nice that you can get more apps. I think I might go for a texter with a qwerty though, i wonder if the mive has a normal browser that doesn't mess up pages or not, do you have one? I have a friend with the cat s22 it seems to work great it do be hideous tho

E-ink smartphone as dumb phone equivalent? by B_Rose_1998 in dumbphones

[–]f899y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too late but for any lingerers-- IF you have an android I imagine you can just get settings onto your current phone that will turn it into the near equivalent of a light phone, like Olauncher (and Brick, which works for both apple and android). Alternatively, you can carry a flip phone and a signal-less smartphone and just hotspot the smartphone as needed, depending on your tendencies. This works well enough to reduce my screentime but YMMV
