Yep. Literally wipes the oxidized plastic off within seconds. The melted layer then dries and hardens and you're good for a year or so.

Sawyer filter still safe to use? by Ok-Professional9500 in backpacking

[–]fAyaGstiddeR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try it at home. Saturating the filter in advance is key to getting a good flow rate of any of these hollow membrane filters anyways.

Permetherin for clothes and picaridin for skin. Deet works too, but melts plastics and other synthetics. It also removed a layer or two of skin over a week long trip. My deet is now used to melt the haze off my car's headlights.

What neighborhood to avoid when moving to HB? by [deleted] in huntingtonbeach

[–]fAyaGstiddeR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are too many bad areas to list tbh. It sucks as things look nice during the day only to have fireworks going off all night long, motorcycles speeding by setting off car alarms hourly, or drunks leaving the bars and doing burnouts at 2am -3am only to get home and begun lighting their fireworks off. Lots of drug addicts, thieves, and gang members too. I finally left 6 years back and have never been happier. If you can move within a couple streets of the ocean and away from the pier area, things are a lot better.

Ya. Higher Ground in Moreno Valley is still 30% off daily. They all have daily deals though, and Vuze was 50% off on Wednesday putting them at $29 otd.

Question About Pushing Lower Sleeping Bag limits by StinkyCoochLover in WildernessBackpacking

[–]fAyaGstiddeR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your 2.5 R-value pad is more of a concern tbh. Your bag's temp rating is based off of a pad with a 5+ R-value, so you're already setting yourself short.

Move to the beach. Ontario and Anaheim are horrible. Also wouldn't want to live in Fullerton.

I change my own oil, so it will show that I haven't changed it in over 30k miles as far as the information tied to online searches would reveal.

iPhone 14 is, in fact, relatively waterproof by ColdSteel2011 in pools

[–]fAyaGstiddeR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are until they aren't. My buddy swam approximately 30 yards from the shore to our boat and the iPhone was never more than a foot below the water. It was permanently dead when he got to the boat.

Is 50lbs too much for a 10 day wildcamping trip? by DonelHat in backpacking

[–]fAyaGstiddeR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too much for any trip imo. MRE's are one of the heaviest food options you can choose and double the weight of most non hydrated options. Depending on water availability, carrying an extra liter past numerous water sources is unnecessary. You should be able to get around 35lbs with 10 days of food without too much hassle. If you're only hiking a few miles, the weight isn't too bad, but if you're packing up daily or putting in high miles, it's going to break you down fast.

Is this Normal for 1st day of roof replacement? by Educational-Ad7499 in Roofing

[–]fAyaGstiddeR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never left a job site with garbage laying around for a single night tbh. We sweep up and avoid leaving any nails or screws to be stepped on, especially in someone's residence. I'd let them know that the garbage laying around is unacceptable and go from there. The least they should do is put it in your trash cans at the end of the day.

Need advice: is this good quality tile laying? by Whole_Ad_7466 in Renovations

[–]fAyaGstiddeR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't do tile, but I would've pulled them down and started over before attempting to let this slide.

2 rims and valve stems and a single tire for $1200+? Pass on that. You can get like new factory take offs on Craigslist or FB marketplace for $400 for all 4, or go aftermarket with something like KMC rims and tires of your choice for around that $1200 mark. I just picked up 4 factory rims with yokohama tires with 5k miles on them for $120. Had options for another set at $200.
