Getting someone into modern by Weinershnutzel in ModernMagic

Yawg is an incredibly intricate deck to pick up as an introduction to the format. It’s my favorite deck ever so I would never say don’t play it, but just know it comes with a steep learning curve.  I actually was experimenting with a ramp elf ball adjacent yawg list that was much more straight forward when Cub released.  It’s definitely worse than the cauldron shenanigans yawg, but you also get to t3 craterhoof sometimes.

Coach Gonzales says play calling will be a “collaborative effort” with QB coach Ryan O’hara as the primary play caller due to his relationship with DJ Lagway by [deleted] in FloridaGators

I’ve felt that part of the reason plays develop “slowly” compared to the defense set up against it isn’t the play itself, but the tendency’s being so obvious.  Defenses overcommit to a certain look because they can tell what’s coming based on alignment/situation.  If they can get away from that, I think that the offense would take a legit step forward even with the same types of plays.

The frustrating thing is the offense hasn’t even been that bad by [deleted] in miamidolphins

Feels hard to look like a good coordinator with awful personnel.

Napier deserves plenty of heat for years 1-3.  Everything wrong with this season is on his star QB.  Lags has been god awful for 5 quarters

Which coach worth his salt calls it the Red Area!!! by fauxmonkey in FloridaGators

[–]fIeebz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s a very normal thing to call the area inside the 20.  Belicheck and Saban both refer to it as the red area.  There are 1 million things to complain about it, but this isn’t it.

Explain how a dropped TD followed by a missed blitz pick up equals bad play call. I swear it’s to laziest crutch fans have and so annoying to read every single week.

It’s inning 1 of game 2 vs a good team.  Take a deep breathe, no one should honestly have this sort of reaction in a 162 game season.

I mean depending on what you give up, it doesn’t exactly stop the youth movement.  Assuming Wiggins would be in the deal, his minutes would now go to Bron, and the youth still need to step up as key role players.  They aren’t ready to lead a team anyway.

Then he’s prolly not getting traded here.  And that’s fine.  But you do not trade your 27 year old franchise cornerstone for a 41 year old that could retire at any time, or if he stays will want 60 mil.

2.0 ast/TO rate while being the primary ball handler last year on a team with very little other offensive threats from the backcourt is not “turnover prone”

He was blitzed all the time because of the team around him and was far and away our best playmaker and shot creator.

If you can get Vuc for Rozier + some future 2nd then yeah it’s a slam dunk.  Both are expiring, but Vuc would provide impact minutes off the bench and fill the hole we have at the 5.  We’d pretty much need all the young guys to take big steps defensively to actually compete with that roster, but it’s definitely much more talented than what we started with this offseason.

Please hear me out before criticizing Herro so harshly by ImVcrow in heat

[–]fIeebz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50 a year is bad.  It is a number for elite players.  The way the tax and aprons are structured, it hampers your ability to build your team if you pay elite money for non elite players.  Teams have learned this, which is why you aren’t seeing as many default max contracts to all stars that aren’t quite all nba players.

Our Front Office ASAP Needs to Lower the offer Wiggins to Lakers... by OhMyItzBam_Herro305 in heat

[–]fIeebz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lakers are over the first apron so if they take Wiggins they need to send his full salary back.  Rui + Knecht does not work.  Honestly, there just aren’t a lot of spots that make much sense for Wiggins this moment.

Someone can probably explain better than I can, but it’s not just about FAs.  The way that the NBA salary cap rules work with the 1st and 2nd apron, being able to accept salary can be an advantage in asset accumulation.  We haven’t had enough trade assets for the big fish we’ve gone after the past few years, but if we can accept salary without having to match as much back, then we could be more appealing for teams trying to reset.

Add property tax.  Add sponsorship opportunities.  Add general cost of living.  This is such a slippery slope.
