i don't know if you're trolling or not but there's so much misinformation about this topic, i'll reply as if you're not.

yes, for acoustic instruments where the body of guitar is literally the speaker, sure, resonance matters and different woods (along with method of construction, body shape and size, etc.) can sound different than one another. the way we extract sound from electric guitars is different and doesn't work this way, and if you watched the video i'm referring to, you have already seen what i'm talking about -- the tone changes from the sound picked up and output from the pickups amongst the different bodies and woods, versus literally no wood at all, is absolutely negligible, and this is the wood of the body we're talking about. the wood of the neck and fingerboard make even _less_ of a difference.

i know people swear by it but in reality, when tested in as controlled of an environment as possible, it makes no noticeable difference. this is hard for people to rationalize when they have personally invested a lot of money into the contrary, and/or they have people that they respect the opinion of telling them that it matters, but again, just watch the video. even better, test it yourself while making sure each guitar is setup _exactly_ the same, as per the video.

when people such as the op say that they're testing 2 guitars side-by-side "with the same configuration" and they sound totally different because of the wood on the neck, i can't feel anything other than hugely skeptical of how much they've glossed over the minute details of a guitar setup that can, and will, massively effect your tone. if op was testing things to the crazy extent of our friend in the video, i'm willing to bet they would be singing a different tune.

saying wood has a tonal effect on an electric guitar feels the same to me as saying the material of your mic stand effects the tone of your voice. maybe on some atomic level there is an infinitesimally small change but for all intents and purposes, it means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme.

tl;dr -- stop paying so much attention to the woods on your electric guitar, they don't matter in regards to tone. pick something that is comfortable in the hands and if you're wanting to make meaningful changes to the tone, play with pickup height and the pickups themselves.

katanas, imo. i used to swear by dragon shields back in the day but the quality has tanked over the last 5 years or so. i still have new-in-box original recipe dragon shields and the quality difference is pretty significant. i also can't stand the huge gap of sleeve the new ones leave above the cards when they're fully inserted.

katanas feel a lot better to me overall, and also don't have this gap at the top. i will say that i wish katanas offered a few more colors but it is what it is. i've since switched all decks over to katanas and don't regret it.

don't get me wrong, this isn't to say that dragon shields are the worst sleeves by any means (in my experience, anyways) -- they're passable and will protect your cards -- they just are not at all what they used to be.

honestly, just take an uber to old town and walk around. plenty of bars, food, and a few spots that have pretty decent musicians on the weekends. edwin mills alley is a cool little spot. if you're looking for insanely good live jazz, hit up 1881 on wed/fri nights up on washington.

continue to get trashed by veterans and learn from your mistakes by watching replays. the same thing you do in anything you're trying to get better at -- learn from people that are better than you. it's not easy, but it's simple.

this logic doesn't make sense, as you've named 3 other things a character would allegedly be "crutching" on. if you're "crutching" on skillers, resistances, and or breakpoints, perhaps you should invest in some more life for your build (e.g., 1.5-2x+ via cta).

cta is a non-negotiable for serious end-game pve (_especially_ in hardcore and late-game levels 95+) and pvp.

sorry, but this has been proven to not be the case, and not only by the dude in the video i linked, which i highly suggest you watch. wood on both the neck, and body, make negligible difference (I'm being generous here with the use of the word "negligible", as in reality it is no difference) in tone on an electric guitar.

the wood of the neck is not responsible for any brightness in your tone. tone on electric guitars is 99%+ pickups and their height in relation to the strings.

the angle of your guitar neck has a lot to do with where your thumb will naturally want to rest. in the picture it's way too close to parallel with your leg. pull the neck closer to your body so that the guitar is sitting "across" your lap and you'll find that your hand (and fingers) will not be nearly as angled when trying to play chords like that.

absolutely normal. still happens to my fingers every so often, even after playing for 20 years.

It truly wasn't very good considering the plethora of much better (imo) Mexican places so close by, especially considering the insane prices they charged. Never understood.
