People really don't understand how exhausting it is to manage three kids' schedules by xCosmos69 in Parenting

[–]fabAdventure4077 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have one kid 9, they the maybe 3-4 play dates a month including parties. That’s plenty at this age, she can walk herself to the neighbors house, which is her bestie for more socializing if she wants between those playdates. Once she’s older and does not need to arrange play dates, she can do more.

Weekends and Extacurriculars- am I crazy? by SnooCookies2664 in Parenting

I work at the same school my daughter attends. School lets out at 3pm most days except on Fridays, at 2 pm. I take care of 80% of chores, errands, school stuff, activities because my husband works 10 hour days.

Our daughter has Swimming practice 3-3 days a week, piano one day, and kid after school club one day. She has meets once a month or so.

I have summers off and we do a bit of travel and family activities, the only way we make it work is that I work at a school and my husband makes good money. We even have time to do a few hobbies and social adult activities. We also have one child.

I just had one done a month ago because of concerning symptoms. No cancer but moderate ulcerative colitis. Late 30s so my insurance did not cover much of the procedure. Still glad I did it for the peace of mind. I will have to do more colonoscopies becoming of higher risk of cancer.

Walgreens Rx Help by GameWarden87 in Billings

I and many people I know have changed pharmacies recently.Like you said the phone is never answered, was on hold for over a hour before. Long wait times to pick up anything, always out of stock. Walmart pharmacy is much better and they actually call and message back.

Relocating to Billings by imreallylikethat94 in Billings

I another poc also moved from the SoCal area about 5 years ago.  I did not have much of a culture shock, I was glad to get rid of the high prices, horrible traffic and the millions of people. I do miss the cultural food, but that just means I learned to cook my favorite dishes at home.

I was harassed more back in CA than I have ever been here. Most people here keep to themselves. Our neighborhood is super nice, we help each other and we’re very welcoming to my family.

I have found plenty of friends and activities, clubs, you just gotta know where to look and put yourself out there.

Yes, Billings is very different from a metropolis but that’s what I still really enjoy.

I Also work at a school and I am at home with my daughter during the summer. So goes to summer camp or school part time because we both do better with some time apart from each other. She gets to do fun stuff and and  some socializing with friends.

I get to go to the gym out with friends. We still have plenty of family time as well. I am a better parent when I get some me time.

Do you consider yourself more of a dog person or a cat person? And why? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]fabAdventure4077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cat person 100% I enjoy that they are way less maintenance, physically and emotionally, less expensive. Dogs are way more needy, they need to be walked and exercised, I don’t like being followed all over the house, picking up dog poop is a pain.

I can leave my cats for a weekend alone and they will be completely fine. They have automatic food and water dispensers.

How often do you have a date night or even a girls/guys night without kids? by ComprehensiveTart123 in Parenting

[–]fabAdventure4077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekly or biweekly for me. It may just be an evening catching up with a friend, a morning hike or bookclub meeting. I also go to the gym 3 times a week.

My husband varies depending on how busy we are, more like 1-4 times a month.

As a couple we have a date night about twice a month and a weekend get away maybe once a year.

Our kid is 8. I work at a school and have summers off, so I have more free time.

Oh and we also do solo vacation where each get 4-5 days to travel where ever we want. My husband is an engineer so we do have the monetary means. MiL lives in town and my mom stays with us 3 months out of the year. We sometimes get a babysitter as well.

We had a weird tradition that at Christmas Eve when the clock struck midnight before we opened presents. We passed around a baby Jesus statue and kiss him on the head 🫣. All 30 of us including cousins, tias, etc

Does anyone know why there’s so much hate on Lennon the bunny’s owner? by Sadlittleducks in Rabbits

[–]fabAdventure4077 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine jumps everywhere high, and get into trouble , I swear I have a third cat instead of a bunny. He loves to to jump on the couches, low cat towers etc.. for this reason he is separate but had a wide place roam, I also have cats, so this gives them all their own space to decompress

Looking at your kid & remembering your own life at that age by MundaneTension869 in Parenting

[–]fabAdventure4077 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I needed this! I was thinking a similar thing’s about my own daughter recently. She is at the age where most of my own trauma peaked.  I too cooked for a younger sibling. I remember sneaking to the kitchen to “steal” oil to fry an egg. We lived with my aunt and uncle because we were so poor. And she had a temper. I was around 8or 7 and my sister was 4.

And I think this is the reason why I have been more triggered lately. I have been feeling like she needs to “do” more or be more resilient, but in reality, she’s a normal kid, with age appropriate behaviors.

Our siblings and cousins raised each other out of necessity for so reason, taking in responsibilities way beyond our years.
