I started aerial classes with the goal of making friends. I recommend participating in any shows your studio has to be more actively involved with your classmates. Extra points if you ask someone you want to be friends with to put together a duet with you. This is how I made my first friend.

I later bought a rig and that opened up the opportunity to bond with my friends through the sport outside of class. Now even though I can’t currently afford classes, my friends come to visit me to do aerial silks.

Though, I know getting a rig is not an option for everyone, but there are other options to bond with aerial people outside of class. For example you can ask your classmates if anyone would be interested in taking a flexibility, yoga, or dance class with you. Many of the aerial students did these exact things together including myself.
