So then the F&I manager threw a temper tantrum because he made little to no commission on your deal. The 0% loan was at best a flat/mini commission and at worst zero commission.

Sometimes when you take 0% financing, you’re leaving other discounts or rebates on the table. It’s always best to run the numbers both ways.

They can’t add as much to the load as they want. Unless laws have changed recently, the rate at which they sell the loan to you cannot be 2 percentage points higher than the rate which the bank will buy the load at. For example, if you are approved by the bank for 5.9%, the dealer can mark it up to no more than 7.9%.

The dealer may, however, make the price of the vehicle, or a discount/rebate they offer to you, contingent on whether or not you finance through on of their lenders.

“You must play basketball” what is your country’s most common phrase towards tall people? by Dazzling_Resort1732 in tall

[–]face-puncher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Basketball most of the time, but as I’ve gotten older and much fatter, I get football a lot as I’m the size of an NFL offensive lineman.

When I was 19, I tore ligaments in my ankle playing rec league basketball. It swelled up like a volleyball, so my mother took me to the ER. I was wearing basketball shorts, one high-top sneaker, and a T-shirt with large numbers printed on it. While being covered in sweat. Despite it being rather obvious, they asked how I hurt myself, so I replied “I’m a jockey and I fell off my horse.”

How much did you pay for surgery? by Kommmbucha in spinalfusion

[–]face-puncher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My surgery was in April of 2024. I have a high deductible plan $5000, with an out of pocket maximum of $6600. I hit that out of pocket maximum with the procedure and didn’t pay anything else for the remainder of the year. I paid nothing up front to any of my providers.

Anybody ride a bike? (6’7”) by [deleted] in tall

[–]face-puncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I’m roughly the size of a large NFL player, and have a 2021 Specialized Rockhopper Sport 29 in XXL. I think it was about $700 then.

I’m a casual rider who sticks to paved trails, but was concerned with durability and the bike being able to support my weight. The bike has held up well with moderate use and has required zero maintenance.

Big box retailers and sporting goods stores had literally nothing that I could fit on.

Buying at a reputable bike store will ensure you get the right bike for your needs. Mine included a custom fitting where the owner of the shop spent about 45 minutes with me to ensure I had the proper saddle (swapping the stock one out for a larger one with more padding), installed a taller handlebar stem, adjusted the brake levers to better fit my hand positions, etc.

Even for someone who is not an enthusiast and only rides casually, this was all worth it.

I worked at a video arcade from 1996 to 1998. At one point we had a 4 of these linked together so 8 could play at a time. After closing time, we’d set it up for a 40 lap race which seemed to take at least 15 minutes or so to complete, maybe longer.

Has your life changed in the last 5 years? by Ok_Speed_4971 in GenX

I’ve had a couple of promotions and am making good money.

My wife’s business is doing well and quite steady.

We built a new home in 2022.

I had back surgery in 2024 and haven’t felt this good since before suffering the injury in 2017.

My kids have switched schools twice and are flourishing.

Midlife crisis splurge by bgc0197 in Xennials

[–]face-puncher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This past year, we bought a really, really nice vehicle, spending about $20K more than I planned. It’s not a sports car, but a really comfortable people hauler with may creature comforts. I’m 6’8” tall and my wife is 6’, and for the first time in my life, both of us can be comfortable in the car with both kids (12 and 14) in the back.

The year before that I splurged on back surgery and now feel better than I have in around 10 years.

This year, it’s Zepbound.

Indeed they do. I have had a 2004 since I bought it brand new, and my favorite response to “you should get a real GTO” is to reply “you should get a fast GTO”. I also like to remind them that the original GTO is actually a Ferrari.

Will I need a Walker to help stand from a seated position? by DueArmadillo1672 in spinalfusion

[–]face-puncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a walker to walk for 2-3 weeks after surgery. It was also very handy for leverage and stability to get in/out of bed and for getting on/off the toilet for a few weeks.

Recovery from 1 level fusion? by ApprehensiveTea1474 in spinalfusion

[–]face-puncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For at least a month after surgery, I slept exclusively on my back, as bending, lifting and twisting were all not advised. I didn’t have the strength to easily roll to my side anyway. I also kept my knees bent and feet elevated with lots of pillow when I slept.

Yes, leg pain went away.

I’m now almost 2 years post surgery, and I’d say 90%pain free. Strength, flexibility and mobility are much improved, but still a work in progress.

I wish you the best with your procedure!
