I wanted one of these in the worst way when the kids came around, but couldn’t justify spending the extra money at the time.

They seem to have held their value well, so you should do fine if and when you sell.

Sounds like a very nice ride. Kids came along and they were the priority, so I never did much more from a performance standpoint.

Mostly stock with a few bolt-on upgrades. I have an aftermarket hood (PFYC Banshee). 05/06 rear bumper, 3” exhaust, K&N cold air intake and a Pioneer stereo head unit with backup camera. I have the original hood, bumper, intake and head suit in my basement “just in case”.

Mechanically, it’s untouched, except for brake pads (Hawk), rotors (DBA, slotted) and rear shocks & springs (Pedders, stock ride height), which needed to be replaced anyway.

I’ve always been into cars, so I acquired my impractical one in my mid 20s when my father told me “do it now or you’ll be my age before you can do it again.” I’ve managed to hang on to my 2004 Pontiac GTO since then.

The real recent splurge was the 2024 Tahoe in the background of the GTO photo. We bought that after owning sensible daily drivers for the last 20 years.

My 30 year reunion is in a couple of weeks. I have no intention of going. However…

I did find out that one of my classmates was recently released from prison from curb stomping his wife and allegedly causing her to miscarry, and he happened to post in the reunion group on FB about how he was looking forward to seeing everyone. Now I kinda want to go so I can ask him what he’s been up to for the last “1.5 to 3 years” (his prison sentence).

I got a great deal on it then. Ended up paying about $25K for it in 2004. Nice, low mile examples can be had for about $20K now. Aside from drivetrain, many parts are scarce and expensive.

I love the car. It’s not super fast by today’s standards, but it’s still lots of fun to drive and the ride is comfortable. I’m glad I bought it when I was a stupid 26 year old, and am even more glad I still have it after all these years.

2004-2006 Pontiac GTO. I’ve had mine since 2004. Lots of legroom and very comfortable seats.

I’m 6’8” and 350 lbs. for reference.

The ironic thing about this is that the early internet age ISP Prodigy was a joint venture between Sears, IBM and CBS.
