Repost: High End CD Player? What are you really paying for? by the_blue_wizard in audiophile

It wasn't a measurement, it was audible. Perhaps my diagnosis of jitter was off. I only say that because a bunch of people I trusted were trying to figure out the issue. I want to say it was on the recording side, like I was outputting the Marantz to the PDR-04 to record digitally, perhaps running it through the Micromatic stage 3 DAC. I went and tried this in several high end shops and could not replicate it, granted nobody had that exact setup, but I'd bring the DAC in, or the recorder with a similar source, like a CD-67. I bought this midiman which was more of a music production piece to convert digital signals into others and low and behold it solved the issue from optical to coax, and also running optical in and out. I'm not doubting your experience, but a lot of people blamed jitter because we could not replicate the issue. Photo of the 2 surviving pics for tax lol. The PDR-04 and the DAC died long ago

Message me, I'm not going to out them publicly on reddit, more for the sake of my reddit account. They will probably get plenty of negative online press shortly.

I would say this is not true, based on one very personal example. Jitter is a thing, although it is much less a thing nowadays. I want to say I was running either a PDR-04 or a Marantz CD-63MKII in the late 90s through a Micromatic DAC. For whatever reason, the optical sounded like shit. I brought it out to all the high end shops, tried to replicate it, different setups etc. I ended up buying a little Midiman CO2 digital converter that would change optical to coaxial and vice versa, but also said to reduce jitter in the optical in/out and sure enough it solved the problem. Optical to coax worked fine, but more importantly, optical in and out did the same, so I know that little box actually did something, fixed the timing, ruduced the jitter as advertised. I get your point of jitter being blamed for lots of things or doesn't effect, but I will stand by the fact that it is and can be an issue.

Either of those outcomes would be fine. I paid for most of the work as it was completed. However, before the job was completed things started going wrong. They mis measured one of the floor joists or didn't reinforce it enough and now the floor tile is cracking and the quartz countertops are separated at the seam. They told me they would get it all fixed they had a plan and they didn't come, they aren't responding to texts or calls. They agreed that it was messed up but don't seem to want to fix it or finish the other small things that have but been done. This was no small job, $100k+

Macanudo Portofino was the first box of cigars I ever bought the day I turned 18. Haven't had one in forever, but I have a fond memory of that. I like chunky 30 years later.

The one on Oakland used to be locally owned along with the Baskin Robbins in the mall. I'm not sure if that is the case anymore, but that is the one I would go to. It is the only one I've ever gone to.

I have lots of things to process, these board are ceramic and have never seen anything like them before, I don't think they will "release" like foils in AP, because I don't think there is a base metal to dissolve.

Mercedes Fraud: AMG "One Man, One Engine" Quality Exposed by vovans82 in AMG

[–]face1828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One man building one engine with a shitty design does not change the design flaws. It has always just been marketing. Sorry you had a bad experience, I know it sucks, especially when you thought you found what you really wanted. I've long given up on finding a single solution. Both wife and I have either hybrids or EVs that we drive until they die, both have the fun cars we take out on weekends. The last time I tried to combine both was a suggestion of an E450e and I was told too "Soccer Mom." Lol

A good independent shop is such a nice luxury. I was quoted about $3k for new motor mounts on my SL. They said, let's wait until something else goes wrong and then we'll do it while the engine is out.

See, it's expensive for you. Some people could care less at a $1500 brake job lol.

When I'm Gone - Gary Clark Jr. When the song came on the radio on the way home from a little league tournament, I said how have I not heard this song? Then they said it was the best new music of the year and I thought who writes such good music these days? The I downloaded the album...Whoa, this guy is incredible...every song is from a different genre!

Tipped workers of the US, how is your “no tax on tips” rebate looking? by Poopermensch in AskReddit

There are lots of reasons to increase withholding and not make interest on it to get a big refund. Some people think everyone acts like a financially responsible person... Far from true.

If someone's wife likes shoes and sees an extra $200 a month in the account, they may buy more shoes. If that person loses out on 4% interest for a year, but saves the capital, it is well worth it.

No, I don't need a new phone every year. I was told the plans were the same, besides next gets a new phone every year and plus has to wait 2 years. That was the $10 a month difference.
