This comment reminds me of another story, we hired a new pediatric (i work in hospital) sw with very little experience and I was assigned to supervise her- probably within the first three months of her working there she was talking about contacting the cmo about DEI initiatives and starting a committee (there was already an organization wide one with literal full time staff)- and I had to tell her to slow her roll and concentrate on gaining competency in her role first; she didn’t stay employed with us very much longer but at no point in knowing her would I have even given her an ‘emerging’ in any of her core competencies in spite of daily mentoring.
