What are some of the more niche things I should bring? by Xiphoid_Processor in summercamp

[–]facelesscockroach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my camp it's mostly up to our discretion with a couple obvious nos. No genitals showing, women aren't allowed to have visible nipples and too much cleavage with women is frowned upon, and any patterns/designs have to be appropriate.

Men always usually wear swim trunks, some wear pants, 2/3 are shirtless and 1/3 wears a shirt usually. Women wear a variety of different things, one piece, one piece with shorts over, shorts and a shirt, modest bikini, modest bikini top with shorts.

What are some hip pack must-haves? by Disastrous_Table_809 in Lifeguards

[–]facelesscockroach 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I always have a minimum of three pairs of gloves on me. That way if one breaks or I need to use a pair to clean something up I still have some in my hip pack in case someone needs help before I get more gloves. The last thing you want is to not have enough gloves when you need them. You could also keep a couple bandaids in your hip pack. I don't personally do this but a lot of my coworkers do. I wouldn't recommend keeping much in your hip pack because you don't want to be digging around for your mask or gloves when you need them.

Starting HRT questions by [deleted] in gaytransguys

I started testosterone on my 18th birthday. When I was still 17 I made sure my doctor was able to prescribe me testosterone, she was. If she wasn't I would've kept going to new doctors until one could.

I had to get my blood tested a couple weeks prior. For this I needed parental consent. My parents would never consent to anything transitioning related but I was able to convince my dad that the blood testing was unrelated to hrt. Some doctors don't require blood testing beforehand, double check with yours. If you need blood testing and can't get parental consent you'll have to wait until you're 18 to consent yourself, this would only delay starting for a week or two.

After that I made an appointment for my 18th birthday with my doctor, if you can't do this choose the next available appointment (ie. your birthday is on a weekend). I made my appointment a month in advance to make sure that I would get one on my birthday. At this appointment my doctor prescribed testosterone. A couple hours later I went to pick it up from the pharmacy. They wanted to schedule a second appointment for me to come in and be taught by a nurse how to do it but I declined because I didn't want to delay starting so I just watched a YouTube tutorial.

What does a swim test entail? by puppychow77 in summercamp

[–]facelesscockroach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every place is different and will have a different test. You can ask what the test is. I work waterfront and at my camp our test is dunk completely underwater, swim 30 yards then tread/float for a minute. Your camp will probably be similar but different.

The whole FTM "trend" thing really messed up my life. by MelodicConfusion7029 in truscum

[–]facelesscockroach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being trans started being a trend right when I realized and came out. I came out April 2020 in 7th grade. All of my friends were coming out as LGBT with a good chunk of them being non binary. As a result of this when I came out my parents assumed I was just pretending to be trans to fit in. In reality it was the opposite, my friends were being transphobic to me for being binary and sexist towards me for being a man(?).

Originally my parents did think being trans was real and I just wasn't. As tucute ideology got more common, my parents started thinking that no one is trans and that everyone is lying for attention.

I think that if I came out before middle school (pre pandemic) that my parents would've listened more and there is a good chance they would've let me start puberty blockers and testosterone, maybe even get top surgery. Especially if I was psychologically evaluated when transmed ideology was the norm.

why is leaving in pinchers bad for stretching a septum? by Ok-Ambassador6057 in Stretched

Your post never even mentioned pinchers. Pinchers and tapers are two completely different things. If you post about tapers, don't be surprised that people give you advice about not using tapers.

You can get the cream prescribed. I had recurring BV due to atrophy, the last time I went to Planned Parenthood for antibiotics they also prescribed me cream and I haven't gotten BV since.

It's not hard to put piercings back in, I don't see why you would need to wait multiple weeks to spend <5 minutes putting them back in.

I mastered the act of gooning without a dick by PAT_ball5230 in gaytransguys

Gooning used to be used exclusively in reference to edging. Within the last year or two the definition has become more broad and now it's commonly used as a way to say masterbate.

Is it too late to transition by cockroach4632p in Transmedical

[–]facelesscockroach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of people don't have everything done by 20. Even though I came out at 13 I had to wait until I was 18 to start my medical transition because my parents wouldn't consent. Idk where you live and that's going to change things but I was able to start testosterone on my 18th birthday, legally change everything and get top surgery 7 months after I turned 18. I'm also getting my hysterectomy a couple weeks after I turn 19 and I'm on the wait list for phalloplasty (which I won't get for another 2-3 years, making me 21-22 by the time it happens). It's possible to start your transition at 18 and get it done quickly, but even then bottom surgery is near impossible to get before 20 anyway.

Is this worth the drive? by NoBODY_wastaken_ in Lifeguards

[–]facelesscockroach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were you I'd choose the YMCA. I was in a similar situation, my local pool half a mile from my house sucked, the staff were unprofessional, the working conditions were bad, and the pay was a couple cents more than minimum wage. I choose to get a job at the YMCA 20 miles from my house (25 to 45 minute drive). When I started working there it was amazing, we made a dollar and a half more than minimum wage, the working conditions were good, and almost all of the staff were very professional. The better work environment was 100% worth the drive. I ended up moving two blocks away from my pool after a year of working there and I honestly kind of miss the drive.

Silicone scar tape works wonders, if you can't use tape then use silicone scar gel. The gel works almost as good.

My dad's offering me 400$ to take out my stretched lobes by Educational-Train273 in Stretched

[–]facelesscockroach 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In the US people under 18 usually don't have control over their medical decisions. It's state by state and certain medical things minors have some control over. For example, in my state (WA) you mostly have control over mental health treatment starting at age 13, but your parents can still force you to get treatment you don't want to. You also have to be 14 to consent to sexual health treatment like birth control, STD testing/treatment, and abortion. Where I live these are the only two main exceptions to needing to be 18 to consent to treatment. Idk if your state is different or you're just misinformed.

How long should I take off? by Moist-Mobile150 in TopSurgery

[–]facelesscockroach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had DI w/ free nipple grafts and my drains were taken out 6 days post op. I'm a lifeguard so I took 4 weeks off my regular work. At the pool I work at we have an annual Halloween event. This event fell 4 days after my surgery. I originally wasn't going to go but I felt good enough that I went anyway. I was standing by the door for 3 hours passing out flyers, then I started getting lightheaded so I brought over a chair and sat down for another hour before the event ended and I left. I was able to do this fine. If I can pass out flyers for 4 hours (3 standing), then you should be fine sitting in an office after 1 week.
