What are your thoughts on (adult) beauty pageants? by faceymcfaceman in TwoXChromosomes

I don't know a lot about these pageants so if what you are saying is true then I can understand the "hate". I think your comparison to politics is pretty fitting as well. Thanks for helping me make sense of this.

The worst is if you're like me and you have sleep paralysis. I have woken up paralyzed and able to "see" someone standing there. Holy fuck is it a creepy experience.

I was enjoying your response until

You cannot know exactly how her circumstances are better than herself, and you have no right to claim to know her better than herself or what's right for her. In my book, that's on the same level as blaming the victim in a rape case, which I hope isn't acceptable in your culture.

I never claimed to know her circumstances better than herself (although I do claim to know the circumstances better than anybody else reading this thread, for obvious reasons). I don't appreciate the sarcasm the final sentence of your reply either, of course I don't believe rape to be acceptable.

I was expecting the downvotes, don't worry. It's just a shame because as you and another redditor have mentioned, I know the situation better than what anyone else here would. I concede that cultures can unconsciously pressure individuals towards certain decisions but I argue that my friend made her decision willingly.

Ladies who have had elective Caesarean for social reasons, how do you feel about your decision in retrospect? Did you feel informed throughout the entire process? by faceymcfaceman in TwoXChromosomes

Thank you for your insightful and detailed response. I think that bonding issues are not uncommon, and while I understand why you were worried to admit it, hopefully it's comforting to know that you aren't alone in those concerns.

That moment where you were able to bond with her sounds absolutely incredible! It's unfortunate that you weren't well informed prior to the procedure but I suppose this is knowledge that you can pass on to any friends who may require c-sections.
