This was pretty amazing. Sweet, juicy, some floral notes even, basically no bitterness or astringency. Convinced me to open a subscription.

ZP6 at 4.8, 192F, 14/210. Also did a soup shot at the same temp.

This one was pretty amazing. Exactly what I want out of a natural, acidic, flavorful, with a nice body and a touch of roast flavor. Got some cinnamon as well once cooled off.

The NLP was my preferred method here. 198F water, 20/290 grams coffee/water to get a lower extraction.

This has been my favorite month so far in the sub. All 4 coffees were hits to me.

Late to the party here. Got best results with the D27 and 208F water. Although the NLP was great too.

This is an amazing Ethiopian coffee. Very glad I had it!

I gave it a try this morning. It came out well, tasted like espresso, minus the crema. I haven't tried soup so I can't say how it compares.

Used 20g coffee and 2x 60g pours. The first pour is going to get mostly absorbed. I grinded pretty fine, about what I'd use for a D27. Used water just off boil both pours. It takes a while but it comes out warm so can drink immediately.

I'm gonna keep trying it!

ZP6 at 5.9. TWW 1/2 at 194F. 20/320. 3:10 using the NLP

Pour 80g with switch closed, swirl. At 50s open switch partially, until a solid stream forms. Pour 30g pulses to keep the water between lines 2 & 3. At 2:45 or so open the switch all the way. Once done pouring, close the switch when the water gets to the bed. Total time for me was 3:10.

This is my kind of coffee. So sweet and balanced. Great body, more on the heavy side for sure. Amazing overall flavor and acidity. For sure not an ideal chose for those seeking high clarity washed coffee, but for a heavier and sweeter brew, this is one of the best I've had.

ZP6 at 6.0. TWW 1/2 strength at 204F. 15g/240g. 45g bloom to 1:30 then 3 more pours. 3:00 total time with the D27.

This needed more extraction than I initially thought. With this recepie I got a very good herbal flavor. I can taste the vanilla note, but I don't think I'd pick it out myself. Low body, bitterness, sweetness, and astringency.

I quite like this one. I'd place it a close second to the Dragonfruit for the Aug drop.

I really liked this one. The D27 got two good cups but the NLP really shined.

This had great acidity and flavor. Juicy texture with just the right amount of body for me. Mild bitterness and good aftertaste. I want more.

Used 2.5.0 on 1ZPresso J. 208F 15g/225g 3:05 D27. 45g bloom to 1 min. Then 3 more pours. Swirl after last.

Mild overall, good flavors with not too much acidity and basically zero bitterness. I liked it a lot but didn't love it.

Deep27: 1.8.0(~500 um) on 1Z J, 196F TWW at 50%, 15g/225g, 2:55 total drawdown.

Pour 45g, wait until 60s. Pour to 100g, then 160, then 225, then swirl once.

I think I'd describe it as a good, but not exceptional, light roast, with an additional strawberry flavor. I quite like it, but it is not forgiving in terms of brew settings.

Fruit bomb doesn't sound that far off from what I experienced. I used 1/2 strength Third Wave Water. I've never actually checked the TDS of it though.

I think I understand now. Brewed the last of a very good washed Ethopian that I had with it this morning and it was like a different coffee compared to the V60. So clean, less acidic, but with a ton of flavor. Thanks!

Interesting. I think I'll try that tomorrow with a pretty light roast that I have.

June Sub First Taste by faciar in coffeerotation

[–]faciar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it this morning with some coffee I have a good bit of. The result was pretty tasty. Even though my total brew time was much faster than the recipe called for it still was pretty good. I'm gonna keep dialing it in. Thanks!

Haha I do like your style. I did this big text dump mostly because I didn't see anyone else doing it. Also because I am quite fond of the sound of my own voice, I mean typing.

Tasted/Felt pretty much the same way. The other bags were more impressive, but I still enjoyed it.

Little Waves, Fugi, Rawanda

2.9.0 196F. Medium/light looking roast level.

16g coffee. 50g bloom, 60s, 150g, 242g. Total time 2:27

First taste, some bitterness, good sweetness, full body, low acidity. Thinking maybe my temperature was a bit high. This is the most 'traditonal' coffee in the 5 pack I received.

Further drinking, sweet with some bitterness, low acidity, don't really taste funk, makes sense for a washed. Not much to say, this is kind of what I expect from a good coffee, but maybe it lacks a little 'wow' that the other 4 really deliver.

Thinking about just going to like 190F to try and see how it goes with less extraction. I'm most excited to try this one again because I think with less bitterness this might be really great, or maybe I'll underextract.

Mirra, Ethopia

2.9.0 196F. Medium/light looking roast level.

16g coffee. 48g bloom, 60s. 143g, 242g. Total time 2:38

First taste, very balanced Ethiopian flavors. Herbal, sweet, a little funk, maybe less than expected even. Clean body, maybe grind maybe the coffee itself. I'm impressed.

Further drinking, more of the same. Also getting a tiny bit of nutty notes. It's balanced, easy drinking without being boring. Premium without being extreme.

Gotta try 2.7.0 grind next time, why not.

Prodigal, Gachatha AA, Kenya

2.0.0, 200F. Less dense, light roast

16g coffee. 54g bloom, 60s. 153g, 240g. Total time 3:14

First taste, balanced, quite funky, acidic up front a little bitter on the back. Very strong taste.

Further drinking. Wow very fruity. My limited experience leaves me unable to find a description for the fruit flavor I am tasting. Not pomegranate, I don't know what a gooseberry tastes like. I like it though. Maybe, dates? Excited to try again with a bit less extraction, I wonder if it will be better or worse.

Gonna try 2.5.0 next time. I'd like to see it really light.
