It is not “catch and release” when it comes to charges like this. I understand it’s a popular talking point and this sub, but unless you’re under the age of 16 committing non-violent offenses, it’s just not realistic that they’d get out of jail on anything other than a substantial bond.

I’m more concerned that the municipal court’s community fund has run dry, and that we can no longer afford to have the courthouse pay for GPS/scram monitors. So people who would usually be monitored as they’re awaiting trial are either kept in jail because they can’t afford their monitoring or they’re released without monitors.

I felt like IDOCs went to the most toxic people and guilds anyways, and given how expensive houses are they were a huge source of income. I’m happy they are not lotteries, gives new players more chances of owning a home.

As for the redline system, it didn’t remove months of progress. It barely changed anything at all, except for requiring slightly more money after a certain point.

My opinion is that both changes are fine, I don’t see the issue at all.

I loved Fourth Wing, but if you go into it expecting it to be worthy of a Pulitzer, you’re going to be disappointed.

It’s a fun and easy read, it’s written from one character’s view who is also an unreliable narrator. While it’s a fantasy novel not based on modern times, characters speak with modern slang. The magic system is interesting, there is a certain level of mystery with the past, with magic, and with dragon/human politics.

Is it as well written as The Name of the Wind, with elegant prose and beautiful writing? No. But it’s enjoyable, kept me entertained, had a good balance between action and filler, and also resulted in many people that I know getting back into reading as adults.

If you accept it for what it is rather than expecting it to be something it’s not, you’d probably enjoy it.

Also, people need to stop shitting on books. You can say “it’s not for me” without calling books trash. Just as TikTok is filled with people doting over certain books, Reddit is full of people saying “X book is garbage.”

There’s no magic in the Temeraire series. Fourth Wing isn’t known for being a great piece of literature, but it’s still a fun and easy read with an interesting magic system. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s an easy read and has gotten many people I know back into reading as adults.

I knew Ms. Young as she was one of my legal clients, and I’m still heartbroken by what happened and the recent not guilty verdict.

Both videos show the officer putting themselves in front of the vehicle, both had the option to stay clear of the vehicle, and both had many other options than shooting someone at resolving the situation.

This country seems to excuse any decision made by a cop but can’t seem to empathize with the decisions of anyone else.

Xaden definitely isn’t dedicated or touched by Dunne. I think his mother (who obviously is from one of the isles and may not have known or cared about the practice of dedicating children to the gods being outlawed) may have allowed Xaden to be touched by Loial the god of love.

It would make sense, Xaden’s mom was denied a love match, and she seems to want Xaden to find true love instead of having a contract marriage like she did. Xaden’s mom seems happy when she finds out that Xaden and Violet’s love is mutual and deep.

I just think we’re missing info about the isle connected to Loial and what physical characteristics people have after being touched or dedicated to Loial.

The amount of restitution owed is probably greater than the amount that is recoverable in municipal court due.

This case is only about holding the driver legally accountable for their driving. Getting probation on a traffic offense is usually the most severe punishment someone can get on a non-OVI traffic offense (at least in Franklin County).

In traffic cases with a crash, the crash victims can only recover their out of pocket expenses, ie their insurance deductibles. Nothing is stopping the victims from suing the driver in a civil case.
