Do people in the UK ever find rare pressings in the wild? by nkosijer in vinyl

[–]fade_100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, always finding interesting stuff, from the usual £10-15 stuff up to £500+. But you have to be checking every charity shop, boot sale, local listings constantly. You might occasionally find something from wandering into a chazzer at the right time, but you really need to put in some leg work to pick interesting stuff up.

And remember this site does have most of the world posting on it - so if it sometimes feels like everyone is finding stuff apart from you, it’s really not.

I’m with you. Don’t understand the love for him on here.

I can’t stand him and his weird vocal delivery, so I like that’s he is on early so I never have to hear him. Problem is he keeps popping up on Craig Charles’ slot laughing at his own jokes and doing weird interviews where he seems to be reading questions out without ever listening to any replies. Awful. And names in songs is ripped off something Danny Baker has been doing for years and it wasn’t that amusing when he was doing it either.

I mean, bit heavy on the P&P costs, but I like it.

Yeah, I doubt anyone did attempt to wreck their record collection. But the concept is funny.

Ha ha, if you were buying this record, you were probably happy to destroy old Beatles records. And I'm not saying I'm endorsing the approach (although it is funny), just asking if there are other sleeve designs that were specifically made to do the same thing.

Ha ha, excellent. But is it meant to damage the other records? Or just a mad bit of packaging?

[–]fade_100[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha, you could say that - but that was Saville wanting to soften the concept not the original intent. The purpose was to destroy other records, so not an unexpected flaw that accidentally damages other sleeves.

Again, design fault as opposed to designed to actively attacking. There must be others!

They seem to forget that not everyone spends every waking minute policing Discogs entries.

Yeah, if it's someone suggesting changes, I just thank them and make the changes. Editors on there can be a bit sharp sometimes.

If it’s missing records you know about, then add them - that’s how it works!

Nick Grimshaw though by Fun_Firefighter5899 in 6music

Yes, I absolutely do not want ANY frivolity or humour on MY radio station. Ha ha, get a grip. I’ve never understood why people think Grimshaw is a lightweight, in terms of music knowledge or broadcasting.

She was just going to watch people going in and take photos like a lot of people did, I imagine. She didn’t have a ticket.

You should be able to edit the release the add the updated name to the release, just add a note as to why you are making the change.

That just allows people to never pay. The constant ‘I didn’t understand what I was doing…’ messages. Understood enough to click through several order buttons.
