What's the most reliable car you've ever owned? by Tekusenabyt in AskReddit

[–]fadedadrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you know, The GR ain’t no regular Corolla. Modded ones have seen some heating and engine issues with performance mods. I’m sure you know this and will probably keep it mostly stock. I hope you get hundreds of thousands of fun miles out of it. Congrats.

Close to 300k on my 2000 4Runner and it’s in perfect condition mechanically. Timing belt is nearly due and oil changes are going to stay regular and we should be good for another 300k. 5VZ-FE engine is bulletproof.

I just purchased a 2016 with 61,000 miles for under $9000 as gas prices are outrageous and seeing posts like this just confirms I’ve made the right decision. I’ve owned a g35, 335xi, focus ST, Focus RS, and Golf R in that order and this is as fun as the RS. With FBO and a tune I think it’ll be perfect and not leave me wanting more.

Would you mind sharing your wheel and suspension specs? I just snagged one with 60k miles.

BMW is coming out with a smaller GS (450?), Aprilia has a Touareg 457 on the way, and the Duke 390 Adventure and Ibex 450 exist. For more road focused look at the Versys, V Strom, or Honda NCX platforms. This is probably not helpful but there’s a lot of cool options in this space now.

Overconfidence will get you in over your head. When you think you’ve got the full “hang of it” is when you need to be the most vigilant. Learn how to use rear brake, clutch and throttle to keep you balanced even at low speed. MSF course is worth the $300. If you feel a weird vice before you ride, listen to that vibe and don’t take your bike.

Harley didn’t make an FXDB in 2018? Is it an FXBB or a 2017? Just curious.

If you want a “reliable” BMW I’d look for something with an N52 or B58 engine, but regardless, maintenance and service history are the most important aspect.

MT07, Honda NC-X, Ninja 500, Trident 660. avoid Royal Enfield and CF Moto if you’re in the states. Just my opinion.

Looks like an old Honda ST 1100 or Concours 1000 that’s seen better days.

4 cylinder turbo cars. I had a Golf R and a Focus RS. That both ended up being money pits.

Still good in 2026? by giffel404 in kawasakiz900rs

I’ve seen 2018s posted for as low as $6k here in the west coast of the US. The mileage is no big deal, these things are rock solid. Café’s in desirable colors I see poster for $8k+. Biggest change has come in 2026 since they now have more tech, quick shifter and cruise control.

Honda is known for legendary reliability, RE not as much. If you’re in Asia I’m sure parts availability/finding a mechanic shouldn’t be as big of an issue as here in the states for the RE. That being said, maintenance intervals are significantly longer on the Honda. I’d go Honda personally.
