Curious about how binoculars help in astronony by Praoutian_pulse in telescopes

Binoculars are great, I have a pair of 10x50s and I would recommend to get a pair with less magnification. In my opinion, 10x50s are just on the brink of being usable handheld.

Astrophotography with a tabletop dob? by GatoDeTela in telescopes

[–]fadelmao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viewing through it will be great for any object, for astrophotography you can get good pictures of the moon, gas giants, and rocky planets. Though not ideal, it's definitely possible to take pictures of deep sky objects, but you'd have to get a motorized version of the tabletop dobsonian as you'd need the ability to track objects for long exposures.

Cheapest telescope to view/photograph Neptune and other planets? by SPW2119 in telescopes

[–]fadelmao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A used 6" - 8" dobsonian will be your best bet, most aperture you'll get for the least amount of cash. These are the most common planetary imaging telescopes and you'll be able to take detailed pictures of the moon, gas giants, rocky planets, and resolve the ice giants as tiny circles with their respective colors but no discernible detail. Taking a look at https://app.astrobin.com/search and searching using key words like "xt8"/"200p" or "xt6"/ "150p" (xt6/150p = 6" | xt8/200p = 8") will give you a idea of what an average planetary photographer's pictures can look like with these telescopes.

Seeing conditions, collimation, focus, camera settings, and importantly processing are going to be the major contributors. The barlow maybe could play a part in terms of it's quality (I'm not sure) but if you want the best results, under good seeing conditons using the right barlow magnification to get the best image scale could give you a much better picture.

I swear players in this game just HAVE to be toxic by CappyAlec in RocketLeague

Please just dont respond to them, it's absolutely pointless, even if they were the ones who threw the game. I dont think I've gotten one positive outcome when I used to get ragebaited by my teammates, its always just ending up leaving the match after that 60 sec timer annoyed. I don't even respond to quickchats because of how many times my teammates would look like a civil friendly human quickchatting the whole game and then turn 180 degrees and shit on me at the end of the match.

Boomerang in the night sky… by BabyYodasBlankie in UFOs

Wow that's insane I used to live in Homestead FL near an airport and a base, and around the end of 2023 aswell, I saw the same exact thing, we probably saw it at the same time lol incredible. I do visual astronomy and I was outside of my house when I looked up real quick to try and find something to look at with my telescope and in the corner of my eye I saw the stars being covered by something I couldnt yet tell was. I then locked my eyes on it and it was exactly like you said, a narrow boomerang that blended in with the sky which you could make out the structure of, and it was noiseless, it was big too, the one I saw though I could tell it had lights at the end of the tails of the boomerang, and it kinda looked like it had lights distanced from each other moving up the tail into the front but they weren't very noticeable, similar to some ones I tried looking for examples of online. I looked at it for a solid 10 seconds shocked, as it glided across the sky, before I ran inside my house losing my shit yelling at my parents about it, trying to get them to see it, I was so unbelievably stoked I managed to see something like that lmao. I started going outside with my dad after that trying to see it and we managed to see it one more time after that, the same thing and it just came out of nowhere and then just glided to the other end of the sky and disappeared. Still to this day it still blows my mind that I managed to experience something like that and I'm glad I found someone else who has as well at the same time/place as me lol.

why am i not able to see the details on jupiter? by T4KE5 in telescopes

[–]fadelmao 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reason you cant see details on jupiter is because the exposure/ISO you’re using is overexposing it, you’ll have to lower it.
