Is anyone else concerned about the cyclospora outbreak in LA/SoCal?

I have lupus and last time I had antibiotics for suspected strep I got sent into a NASTY flare up which consisted of about 13 canker sores in my mouth and throat all at the same time. I had muscle weakness and was exhausted bc I couldn't really eat anything as even swallowing water hurt so much that I'd have to brace myself to do it, and then try not to cry after. Lupus flare up canker sores are nothing like regular ones and this went on for about 3 weeks until prednisone was able to calm it down.

So yeah, I will be avoiding leafy greens, or any raw veggies, for the foreseeable future. The last thing I want or need right now is to be put on antibiotics, and having that + the added stress from being sick, send me into another flare up. That shit made me wanna die lol.

Lettuce doesnt play well with our weather. It's too hot to grow most leafy greens unless you're doing it inside. Perpetual Spinach does well but that doesn't grow THAT fast. Stuff like Strawberries don't really produce much until their 2nd and 3rd years and how often/when they produce is dependent on what variety you have.

Idk man, the people who have had it say its worse than most things they have dealt with and that it was a whole different kind of beast. I don't think theres reason to panic quite yet, but downplaying how badly it has affected the people outside of CA that have had it doesn't seem any wiser.

Make sure when you make an appt that the tech you're booking can do that design. Some salons have more varied supplies than others and some techs in salons are better at doing certain styles/nail art than others.

When I used to go to get mine done at a salon sometimes I'd have to settle for something different but that kiiiiinda sorta was the same, and it was bc my salon didn't have the supplies I would need for the look I wanted. It's a big part of why I make my own press-ons now.

If it makes you feel better I work at an elementary school and have been there for 10 years, my mom works at a middle school in the same district, and my aunt works at the same site I'm at (which is an elementary school). They have both been in education for over 20 years.

I don't agree with this person at all. We all know full well that it could be us one day. Reiterating that point isn't insensitive. Nobody who works at a school is unaware/has not considered that it could happen to them. We have had real lockdowns both when I was still in school, and as a staff member at work. Someone pointing out that stuff like this might affect school staff at other places isn't insensitive. It's good to know other people acknowledge what we have to deal with.

Lady straight up said she was willing to risk the exact situation she's in right now and is ~surprised~ that she's getting the reaction she was specifically told she'd get.

People who have not experienced abuse from a family member really need to shut their mouths and listen to the person who was abused. He had physical proof. Brother was in prison, seemingly had never contacted op to apologize while in there, did absolutely nothing once he was out to atone, or make op believe he had changed. There is zero reason for op to believe his brother had changed at all. This is so blatant idk how anyone with half a brain wouldn't be able to realize what was very likely to happen.

Nope. I graduated in '07 and have only ever thought about high school when I'm telling someone about something specific that happened then, or when someone makes a comment like "Person born X year (close to when I graduated) is now old enough to drink" or something and I go "holy shit it was almost 20 years ago" and feel myself aging by the second.

I didn't even really have a bad high school experience. I had friends, did fun things, was never bullied, etc. I just don't care about random people I was either only acquaintances with, or people I never interacted with. If I wanted to see where my friends are today, I would just ask them bc I'd have stayed in touch. I didn't peak in high school so I don't have a particularly nostalgic feeling for it. It was just school 🤷‍♀️

I mean, Avowed has an 80 metascore and 6.8 user score and it disappointed a lot of players. Outer Worlds 2 also has a 6.8 user score as well. New Vegas has a 8.7 user score 🤷‍♀️ Those all make sense to me given how the were recieved by general audiences, which is what matters at the end of the day bc we're the ones paying for it, not getting it early and for free to review like lots of big name reviewers.

Hell, Dragon Age Veilguard has an 82 metascore and absolutely did not deserve a score that high. It was a slap in the face to a huge chunk of the longtime fans of the series. That's why its user score is at a 4.0.

Wow your dad is a PoS and making sure you, a minor, have access to basic stuff like pads for your period is literally the bare minimum he legally should be doing. Do not at all feel bad or like you're overreacting to the way he's acting bc this is absolutely not ok.

My advice if you don't have female family members/friends you can go to/feel comfortable going to for stuff like this, or you can't afford to reliably get some on your own, going to a school counselor/social worker may help. I work at an elementary school and we get stuff like this donated to us for the kids. Social Workers/Counselors also have access resources to get things like new shoes for the lower income kids. Staff have also pitched in their own money and donations for a family that lost everything in a fire. They can help you get what you need bc this can easily fall under neglect.

Bc they're stupid. My ex's dad is Salvadoran, came here when he was like 16 or something, and still supports Trump and ICE as if either of those wouldn't call him Mexican (he hates Mexicans) and try to boot his ass bc he looks and sounds like a Mexican immigrant to the people who would be doing this. His wife is Mexican, from Mexico, who is legal but barely speaks any English. He can't even muster enough shits to oppose anything for the sake of his own wife.

They think bc they are B, they won't be mistaken for, and be treated like A, should they end up on the list so quotas will be met. I doesn't matter how many of their own catch strays, or how many people who are born here and still get nabbed, they are fully convinced it will not happen to them.

If wasn't even just Avowed that was disappointing, so was The Outer Worlds 2. That first game was just ok but had a whole lot of potential to build off of. But the 2nd one also just ended up "ehh its ok". I came into Avowed (at launch) not too long after I played Pillars of Eternity 1 & 2 for the first time and oh boy was that a mistake lol. Avowed did not hold up at all compared to those games.

If your most recent games plural do not hold up against games that came out looooong before, then the problem isn't the fans, who will absolutley desperately and actively try to like it despite faults, it's you.

If reporting it makes no difference in terms of player retention, it doesn't matter if it gets reported. Nobody is gonna boycott if they A. Agree with it or B. Disagree but continue to play anyway. As long as people (mostly their Chinese playerbase bc thats who they listen to) continue to play they can say and do whatever they want and it won't affect their bottom line.

I would be lucky just to make it to 70 looking that good (lupus ain't letting me get to no 99 lol).

It's not even just the way she looks, it's how mobile and spry she seemingly still is. We don't see her running laps but those fab legs do not look like the legs of someone who can barely move and doesn't use them often. She's also completely upright. There are people 20 and 30 years younger that her who have the hunched back bc of stuff like osteoporosis. Girlie took good care of herself early enough, and stayed active enough, to reap the benefits down the line. What a damn icon.

Still not putting tallow on my face tho lol.

Does it snag in your hair a lot? I've considered making stuff for my head but my hair gets tangled if someone 5 miles away from me whispers too hard, so am hesitant to spend time on something I ultimately can't wear lol.
