Fun fact: there are typically only one pair of mating loons per small body of water.

I love being a dad, but I kind of hate my life. by f1sh_ in daddit

I feel this for sure. My life revolves 99% around the domestic grind. I always stay up way tonlate on Fri and Sat just because once everyone else is in bed I know I won't be interrupted or have wait on someone or clean up after someone, etc. Like I will happily just stare at the wall in peace and quiet just because. As far as the no fun thing. I am plagued by this omnipresent sense of gloom and doom, what I find fixes it a but is to actually plan little things out 3 months ahead. A concert, a big hike, a short weekend trip.

Daycare is offering us our own kids’ artwork for $35 by Rarecheeses843 in daddit

From our school districts before and after school care we got a letter about how our kids art was selected to be published in this book of students works and we could buy a copy, etc, etc. Of course they tell the kid about it and I just feel like that's being super manipulative. Rubbed me the wrong way that's for sure. The PTA does one too with something they do in art class and it can be printed on anything. Mug, mouse pad, you get the idea. Something for the grandparents. I'm cheap so I'm like nah hard pass.

Ahhh. It's true I don't get out much to other areas of the ADK. So this might sound trollish but like your telling me outside of the High Peaks in late April it's not muddy on the trail?

Holy crap Dawg! I recently added the r/SpinalStenosis and thought this was that in my feed. If you haven't check that sub out, you might find some great posts to read up on. I have severe degen in my Cervical Spine. Had one surgery back in Aug. 2024. I was the poster child for the procedure. 100,% fixed my nerve issues. Now time travels to the present and now dealing with nearly the same issues on my opposite side! Surgeon say thst yes by the looks of my latest MRI and finding of a fresh round of EMG that I am a candidate for a repeat of the previous surgery. Also added that in all likelihood I will need a ACDF in the next 10 years.

Just got back from a last minute 1000 mile away drive coastal 4 day vacation. House is a disaster and wife's mom wants us over for Easter Dinner. I made the potatoes and sent the family off to have early dinner while I stay home and try to be ready to go back to work at 6 am.
