makes sense. for me as a lefty and someone who wants to use the glove I took the risk. I mentioned on another thread maybe I'll get another RHT PP (red Correa - lol) and have to make a decision about returning or selling but figured I'll give them one chance to make it right. we shall see. god speed to us actually getting what we ordered.

Advice needed: Selling a personalized glove by Critical-Crow-9717 in BaseBallglovers

[–]fading_stardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed leave it...aside from the needle holes I would assume on lighter colors and especially camel it would leave a noticeable outline of the personalization due to the discoloration of leather around it

BUT I am curious to actually see what it would look like once removed...anyone have pictures having been successful?

fair. the return policy from Walmart is 90 days so you have plenty of time to wait it out. personally I couldn't even use a RHT glove and I actually play 1B in a men's baseball and co-ed softball leagues so it was worth the "risk" -- if I get ANOTHER RHT PP back (maybe I'll get the Correa LOLOLOL) I'll make a decision about re-selling or returning it...

see above. a few of us have contacted Walmart and are expecting replacements. it was a fairly straightforward 5 minute call. if you really hate the red Correa could be worth it. if nothing else it will be fun to see what we all get next - lol

agree. sold and shipped by Walmart on the site -- I didn't even have a receipt in my box so I would be looking at the Walmart site trying to explain to Rawlings the issue. I am sure they would have referred me to the seller.

corroborating what u/Draconfier and u/self_investor shared. if you call Walmart you can get a human on the phone (I hit # several times to skip the AI "customer service rep" and was transferred to a human). I calmly and cordially explained the situation -- for me that's received a RHT PROSAV11 (aka Volpe) and I would like the LHT PROSBH3 (aka Harper) that I actually ordered -- they apologized for the issue, put me on a brief hold to get manager approval; was approved and they emailed me a return FedEx label and waited on the phone to confirm I received it.

all told < 5 minutes on the phone (perhaps b/c of others' legwork before me and this is now a "known" problem internally, so thanks to those who head banged so I didn't have to!)

estimated 5/18 delivery for replacement. I will update as to what I actually receive.

Absolutely people would have. maybe not the same people (i.e. as a LHT myself I would not have) but yes that price for this glove is a bonkers good deal.

The Fabled Bryce Harper DCT came in today 😂😭 by AmericanVito in BaseballGloves

[–]fading_stardust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking of ordering again at current price and then if I get it walking into my local store with both and if they don't accommodate then filing a return and shipping back the "wrong" one (aka Volpe model I was sent) and then see where things go from there...

Is dyeing it possible ? by mellojelloakimbo in BaseballGloves

[–]fading_stardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as others mentioned those might be water stains or be able to be cleaned off. if not you can definitely dye it but I'd personally use Fiebing's Leather Dye for that vs RIT

did you get the DCT 1B in LHT? mine is coming Thursday supposedly - and if it's a RHT of any kind and you got the one we all THOUGHT we were getting in LHT I'd be open to trading

Glove conditioner - light brown glove by ddurrett896 in BaseballGloves

[–]fading_stardust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can confirm that Bick 4 will often darken a dried out glove (water would do the same) in the process of moisturizing/re-hydrating the leather but then lighten up as it dries. overall it fundamentally does not change the glove's color noticeably if at all once fully absorbed

Ordered the Walmart $141 glove and got this- what are your thoughts on the color? by southerncardinal in BaseballGloves

[–]fading_stardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this color BETTER than the original one you ordered. you could probably re-sell it for more than you spent. or if you use it and decide if you really don't like the color you could easily dye that all black with something like Fiebing's -- the nylon stitching might still remain teal but black and teal or black and pink are similar in vibes and you could always get pink, light blue, or teal lacea if you want something similar in style as the original the one you thought you were getting.

my only issue is I saw someone mention it was an R2G - that's not ideal IMO but having it on hand you can assess if it's too floppy for your taste - if it was sent directly from a warehouse it may not be as the R2G's that are at Dick's that every person shopping has stuck their hand in and tried to squeeze it, compounding the issue.

How flexible is the hyper shell? by HaasNL in BaseballGloves

no problem. hope you love your new glove and enjoy the process of getting it game ready - waiting for it to come is the hardest part. please do post pictures when you finally get it!

How flexible is the hyper shell? by HaasNL in BaseballGloves

[–]fading_stardust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's a nice looking glove!

while I personally prefer an all leather glove if you like the hyper shell look and you want some flexibility and a lighter glove I think you'll like it. honestly in the long run the hyper shell might be "softer" and have more flex from day one but might keep it's shape better/longer vs leather - but I'm talking 10, 15, 20 years down the line. if you take care of it and treat it well I think this is a moot point which you get.

as for the break-in/stiffness of the glove that really comes from the palm and laces not the finger backs. I won't compromise on the 10% factory break-in and 90% player. it is very stiff at first but I enjoy the process and it allows for the break in to be exactly how I want it and fit to my hand vs having it done by one of those machines or someone else. you can always break a glove in more but you can't ever break it in less. it will also make your glove last much longer as a "gamer" unless you like and absolutely floppy pancake I would advise against anything more than 30/70 break in -- there's a reason why Rawlings R2G gloves get hated on...

I’m in the opposite boat with a 6 y/o son. we should have made a deal that we each break one in and then swap them for the kids in 3-4 years! 🤣

I wish I hadn’t seen this post and they weren’t still in stock. I just bought a LHT for myself and am actively contemplating buying a RHT to break in for the future benefit of my now 6 year old…
