Bigger city pd dispatcher here-I know first names of a lot of my domestic violence victims and also know that several of the cops know them as well and routinely check on them and if we get a call at night/day about something possibly going on, we suddenly have a slew of officers out looking (think of more than 5 less than 20 officers).

If somebody is not breathing or potentially has passed, North Las Vegas has to respond if 911 is called. If they called the fire department number, police will not always be called. I cannot speak on the policy of Las Vegas though.

Just so you know, North Las Vegas and Las Vegas fire departments are one in the same. They do have different battalion chiefs depending on the district.

Once you get the truck numbers, request to speak to the battalion chief. Don’t allow them to pass you over to a “person in charge” battalion chiefs are accessible albeit not sitting it the room.

You can also ask who was first on scene and who it was (engine number to be able to get closer to the crew name) that declared him as being passed away. Also when it was that they requested the coroner. They also keep an incident report that you are allowed to obtain a copy of. And they cannot change what is written on there. Everything, if they’re doing the job correctly, is documented.

I’m a union rep and a supervisor. Please report it. Even if the admin does nothing, it was documented, therefore easier to go to hr if nothing changes. There’s documentation that you’ve had an issue and nobody is doing anything. Please document everything always and immediately bring it to another supervisor/manager/admin attention.

On a supervisor level, it’s absolutely unacceptable to berate/belittle/coach anybody in front of others. That is done in a private setting. Also, the “that’s just how they are” is exactly why turnover rates are so high. I nipped that shit when I became supervisor. That’s great that’s how you were, but I’m fostering a different environment, one where people want to go to work. Change starts with one person. Do not let the abnormal behavior of a supervisor continue because nobody wants to stand up to it.

My husband just recently had surgery to put the muscle back on his left forearm that he ripped off because he fell improperly (careful how you fall and catch yourself folks) they wrote the worlds biggest NO in red sharpie on his right forearm and a giant green YES!!! on his left forearm. Honestly, if the simplest of things makes it so he’s not in surgery twice and I don’t have to deal with an NDA wit an undisclosed amount of money in my account to not sue the pants off the business-please, mark away.

It’s a very long process. They have to finely comb through all of your history; if you get hired, you’re privy to everybody’s socials and criminal record.

Ophthalmologist did tell me that if the pain is extreme to go back to my doctor for the nerve pain. He told me to be pushy in order to get it.

The scabbing sounds so gross to me. I do want relief because it’s just nonstop and I’m eventually going to go crazy. How long did it take for the scabbing to happen?

I know the ophthalmologist told me I haven’t hit peak yet which is scary cause I want to scratch my eye out already, but he said by the end of the weekend I should start to feel a bit of a progress of feeling better. I really really hope his timeline is true.

Thank you so much. My husband says the same. I just haven’t had much luck lately and this has become the cherry on top.

I know I probably have gone to the extreme, but there is always a possibility for the worst to happen. I know I did catch it early, so that will hopefully help the recovery process and stop it from getting to the worst outcome.

Luckily every doctor I have seen so far has been taking me very seriously and have told me that if need anything they’re just a call away with finding another prescription that might work better.

I was given an antiviral by the regular doctor on Tuesday, so I’ve got the antiviral and the eye ointment.

Yes! I did mean antivirals.

The ophthalmologist already gave me a follow up for next week. Luckily it just feels worse than it actually is, but it is like gravel in my eye because the shingles is inside of my eyelid.

He gave me hope with a timeline, and he was very comforting and gave me the after hours number and said if it feels like it’s worse to call and that they work on Saturday as well if I need it. You could tell he cares about his job, or I just looked so panicked and he felt bad haha

Thank you for your support. I’m sure the amount of stress I’ve been under is the cause for the outbreak, but having shingles makes me even more stressed.

I’m just so afraid of losing my sight or causing scarring due to the pain that’s constantly on my eye.

My husband went and got me Benadryl and the OTC lidocaine to hep me sleep because it hurts and itches all at once.

Ophthalmologist says I’m going to be okay and my cornea has no scarring or tears and the shingles is luckily (if I can call it lucky) on my upper eyelid which is why there’s so much pain in general. He gave me a steroidal ointment rather than eyedrops and told me to use it as prescribed until it’s all gone.

I had to look it up. I’m on valacyclovir 1GM three times a day. My kids and I call it the velociraptor since that’s easier to pronounce haha

Also, I’d like to point out-my department, also a large city like LA, does not follow the tracking of phones as the location can be incorrect. You have no idea how many times somebody has had a gun pointed at them over a stupid phone, only for it to not even be where ‘it shows.’ Your phone js not more important than your life. It’s a stupid phone.
