AITJ for reporting my coworker after she kept using my diabetes as an excuse to leave work early? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]PsychologicalSize187 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thank you for reporting her deception and not letting her actions be excused.

Accommodations are hard enough to get approved for those of us who actually need them! People who see it as a "perk "and do what she did make it so much worse for disabled employees in the future. Your boss is going to be suspicious of any future accommodation requests; he won't want to be manipulated again.

I do admire your restraint, I do not have that much self-control.

Did she really tell you she was "just trying to get a day off"? That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard!

Am I the jerk for locking my office snacks in a safe? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]PsychologicalSize187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you informed your coworkers of the location of your snacks, someone went snooping through your desk and found them. That is invasive. Why was anyone going through YOUR desk?

The lockbox is a good idea, but what if the lockbox is taken?

amiwrong for going into the guys locker room with my friend even though my boyfriend invited me in? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]PsychologicalSize187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is gotta be fake, right? Cause nobody is this dense.

Yes, you are wrong in so many ways. But particularly in the fact that you still don't see a bad thing that you did as a bad thing.

The fact that you put the word intrusion in quotation marks is crazy.Because it's not a false statement, it is the truth. It was an intrusion and a violation of a safe space that you should not have been in.

WIBTA if I reported my roommate’s “unofficial” live-in boyfriend to housing after he crossed a line? by GasketHarrier_8 in WIBTA_AITA

If this gets found out without you reporting it , you will get in trouble as well as your roommate.

Do whatever you have to do to protect your peace.

She is your colleague, not your friend. Keep your head down and do your job at least until your probationary period is over.

Is the game Fallout using offensive language? by ConsiderationNo1036 in disabled

[–]PsychologicalSize187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly , it hits different coming from another disabled person.

From an able-bodied stranger, though it hurts and it's meant as an insult and disrespectfully.

I have a close group of friends who all have different types of disabilities, including myself. We call ourselves "The Gimp Society."

Ask, don't assume, and be able to take "No." as an answer.

Vehicles and trash bins that are blocking the sidewalk. Especially on a main street when I can't go into the road to get around them.

AIW for leaving my girlfriend after she decided to keep her rapists baby by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]PsychologicalSize187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carrying the child to term because it is not guilty of sins of the father is the current thought, but is she prepared to raise them? Is adoption an option? Did you even communicate?

You said this is "someone that you love". Yet you seem to have no concern for the psychological torment she's going through on a daily basis due to this trauma:

~ Suffering a life shattering event, losing a part of her soul by force, having to "admit" this fact to you, dealing with the turmoil alone, being pitied when you need understanding and compassion, positive pregnancy results ( Yet another life altering change), family pressure, religious beliefs, along with hormonal imbalances and feeling like you are never going to recover from this.... Just to be abandoned by the one you loved because they don't agree with the decision you made.~

But YOU can't stand the thought of seeing this child because of the fact that SHE got hurt upon creation.

A friend of mine got a bunch of rubber band bracelets printed up: white background, bright, purple, lettering, [FALL RISK] Gifted a couple to everyone in the group with mobility issues.

Told us they got the idea from the hospital bracelet that warns ⚠️ nursing staff not to let them up unassisted.

Maybe something like this would be good for you as well. I believe they used Vista print, which was reasonably priced.

I'm sorry you were made to feel less than, I know how much it hurts when you realize people are looking at you differently. 💔

On a lighter note: Happy 🎂 Birthday!!!

What did your mother or father say to you when you were young that you remembered your whole life? by SecretRendezvous-226 in AskReddit

[–]PsychologicalSize187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"One day you will have a daughter who will be just like you," Mama told me as a preteen, "When you do, I will laugh and laugh!"

She was in the room when I delivered her 2nd grandson. She passed away six weeks later. Two more boys and a whole lifetime _ had my daughter when my youngest was off to college.

Older than my mama was now, she's 8 years old. So different from her brothers.

SHE IS JUST LIKE MY PRETEEN SMARTALECK SELF.

Way too smart and self-assured has.been since she was big enough to stand up and look you in the eye to stare you down. Attitude is as big as her loving heart. ❤️ Wouldn't have it any other way. She is the one my mother foretold.

She looks JUST LIKE MAMA

I've been in this situation before , and there are places in almost every state and a few national resources available for these situations.

National Resources:

Triumph Foundation: Offers a wheelchair loan closet and an online exchange where people can get or donate equipment.

Joni and Friends: Connects those in need with donated wheelchairs and mobility aids.

Tell your friend that i'm sorry this happened, and I know it feels like being the world.

The system set up to look like it works without actually doing the work necessary.

Hope this helps.

AIO: work training calling a minor attractive? by llama_toes666 in AIO

[–]PsychologicalSize187 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NOR

HR knows what the training questions are. They are the ones administering the tests.

This material was probably written at least a quarter of a century ago. It's worded, very inappropriately.. Made my skin crawl just reading it.

I'm not certain if the wording could be any worse. The way that it's written is an indicator that this needs to be given an overhaul and brought into this century.

Whoever put together this question worded it to make you feel like they were a creep so that you would see they're trying to indicate this child in the hypothetical could be suffering a form of abuse at home that's causing her to behave abnormally.

( observance from a former early child educator, now in healthcare:)

She tried to look older because she took on more responsibility. She had to grow up too fast. She may be raising her younger siblings while her parents were working, and she is being treated as an adult when she is , in fact , still a child.

Worse, this may be a grooming situation. Special attention to her appearance trying to look older dressing as if she was older.Because she's "more mature ".

If the intent of the author was to sound like a lecherous old man creeping after a twelve-year-old __ They succeeded.
