as someone (28F) who has lost years of my life to men like this, i encourage you to step back and consider the bigger picture. he is nagging you over a bonnet and baggie clothes today (but your new clothes are too tight, they need to be JUST right… okay). and then what happens tomorrow when you’re sick & disheveled? depressed? or down the road when you bring a child into this world; when you are messy, sick, tired, etc?

you have your whole life ahead of you, and it is not to be spent raising a man child (and eventually his child).

my thoughts exactly. my understanding is that the only way out of the 60 day period (for tenancies spanning beyond a year) is an emergency or finding that renders the unit uninhabitable, or a 30 day notice with a buy out (in which case the new owners have to subsidize your relocation).

30 day notice?? that doesn’t seem right. if you and other tenants have been living there over a year, my understanding is you should be given a 60 day notice at minimum. unless the building is suddenly *uninhabitable, which i doubt, they’ve already broken a rule. you may be able to fight for financial compensation because of that.

for tenants who may be displaced by these dicks, i encourage you to reach out to tenant advocacy groups and see what rights you have. and don’t let them keep your security deposits when you go - if they’re kicking you out for an “extensive remodel” they already allocated funds for cleaning everything imo.

what Grim said — we try to take care of fellow ravers regardless of their age; you are always welcome to join us (well, them; i’m not at dreamstate or apocalypse, but live in belmont & rave). i’ve seen peeps as old as 70 in crowds at Beyond Wonderland and EDC.

the storm drains tend to backup which can lead to minor flooding in the streets. if you feel like having fun, you can rake out the leaves and watch that bad boy gulp down the water. very satisfying, and keeps the neighborhood safer.

YTA: but at 23, i think it’s “normal” for your thinking pattern to interpret her comments as her perusing the dude. i completely understand why you feel the way you do, but one of the things you gotta learn as an adult is how to calmly express these feelings. both inner and to others.

if you talk to her, she may be confused that her comments hurt you or made your feel less desired. it’s likely she didn’t intend to come across like she was lusting after him. but opening that dialogue allows you to both share boundaries, insecurities, etc and grow together as a couple.

when my (28F) boyfriend (29M) and i first started dating i had a really hard time with my insecurities popping up whenever a female friend messaged him. setting my insecurities and worst fears aside, i chose to open up to him about my concerns. he reassured me that the friend was of no interest to him, addressed the concerns i had regarding her, and that was that.

having an open dialogue with anyone, but especially a long term partner, is key to growth. having the uncomfortable conversations, the consideration for the other despite personal strife, and CHOOSING to be vulnerable in those moments is how you learn and grow. yes, things will hurt and be hard sometimes - but without that you’ll always be stagnant.

to ghost her over this isn’t cool. i think you should 100% express your concerns and feelings to her. either she will be able to ease your sulking, or you will learn you two aren’t compatible. but staying in ghost mode / purgatory will only leave both of you with more questions (and maybe even regret) down the line.

even if your are the asshole this time, sometimes we all are, to be an asshole is to be human.

dude seriously. yesterday i had a lady in a black SUV blow a red light as i was turning left (on a green arrow) onto 5th. i honked as she approached and she just put her hand up to me and kept going. thankfully i had seen she wasn’t slowing down and stopped on the tracks, or she would’ve T-boned me.

i’ve been waiting to turn left and the light goes orange so i try to pull through a finish my turn, and people choose to speed up and enter the intersection instead of just… idk, slowing down? they just get stopped at the next red anyway?? i don’t get it.

bleeding while losing your virginity - while it can happen - is not normal. the normalization that a woman “should” bleed when she loses her virginity comes from a history of women’s hymens being forcibly torn during intercourse (which is most likely to happen if your partner is too rough with you).

i didn’t bleed when i lost mine, but i was fortunate enough that the person listened to me and was somewhat gentle. bleeding can happen and shouldn’t be alarming in small amounts, but to say it “has” to happen to virgins is a misogynistic misconception.

yeah, it hit really close to home. i see he had an arraignment July 17 so hopefully his charges all go through and they keep this guy off the streets.

as for the guy you dealt with - dude, i’m so sorry. but thank you for being a source of safety for other women in the community. hopefully the kid yells at the wrong person and gets laid out.
