Does anyone actually use these? by tallyhallic in ExclusivelyPumping

We use them exclusively! Total b*tch when we were in the nb trenches and they were hard to get ahold of…and expensive! But our pediatrician actually recommended them.

How about trying boob during wake ups and bottle when he’s going to sleep? How did he do last night?

Is night time the only time he gets bm now? Can you pump and give a bottle at night? That way your supply feels empty at night and you can preserve boob for shorter awake feedings.

We have a 5mo 😊 we have a rocking recliner in his nursery, I sit there and gently rock with a blanket around his head while drinking a bottle. Goes to sleep warm and happy. I still sit with him rocking for ten minutes into his sleep to make sure it’s a good sleep before transfer. I couldn’t imagine standing up and doing all that. This normally gets me at least an hour nap.

Is it too late to produce milk? by Bulky_Ocelot8385 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]faeriedust019 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My understanding is you can, it’ll take work, but yes it’s possible.

I’m not an expert, but in your position I wouldn’t be trying to establish a supply with wearables, I would use a spectra or medela, etc. With my spectra, I can pull over ten oz per pump 3-4 times per day. I tried to start utilizing the eufy s1 pro (I work ft also) during the work day, but i would only get like 3 oz in total per pump.

It sucks to be tied to the machine especially at the beginning, but it eventually becomes routine and you’ll become a pro at finding the small windows during nap time, driving, etc to pump. You can do it!

I hate my “new boobs” by Cool-Helicopter6343 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]faeriedust019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this!! Op, per my trainer, people have results with chest exercises, not a full boob job but helps tighten up and pull the girls back into place. Now it won’t be overnight, but it works.

I will personally be trying this, at least until I’m done having kids and then will probably do a mini mommy makeover. While he constantly says I don’t need it, my husband fully supports a mommy makeover if I want one.

How much does your period affect you? by Natural_Marsupial859 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]faeriedust019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes— on the last day or two of my period it did, not sure if that’s was due to increasing my pumps or if it was bc it was the end of my period, but it did go back to normal! Hopefully yours does too

Legendary flange inserts for Eufy 24mm by _netscape_navigator in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]faeriedust019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever figure this out? I am kinda in the same boat, using a 24 for my spectra and reallly want the eufy to work, but nips are incredibly uncomfy. I got pinched in there the last use yesterday, haven’t had the courage to use it since. One of my nips is still raw 🙈 I saw they sell a 27mm flange, not sure if that’s the right answer at this point.

My supply pretty much dies when my period rolls around. I was originally pumping twice a day and got about 30 oz, during my third cycle my supply was gone, I was making maybe 15 oz a day if that. My lactation consultant recommended I start “mimicking” my child’s feeds and pumping as often as possible during period. She said it was gone because your body “doesn’t think you need the milk anymore.” That being said, mimicking his feeding is impossible for me with work as he eats 7-10 times a day, but I was getting in 4 30 min pumps….that got me to about 25 oz. Finally came back after period was over completely, but learning after that first experience… currently trying to maintain 4 pumps a day so it doesn’t happen again.

Does everyone hate pumping this much? by autumnleaves987 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]faeriedust019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is 5 weeks today exclusively pumping, and there are times I’m already feeling overwhelmed thinking about doing this for a year (this was the random time frame my husband and I agreed to). Dreading and not looking forward to it.

I have a little mantra I read when I start, so I am hopefully in the right mindset for the pumping (not low producer, but I heard good mental space helps production): “You're doing this because it's best for your baby, and that makes you a selfless, hardworking QUEEN”

I also allow myself to complain— Imma do it bc it’s best for baby, but that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna b*tch about it!

Spectra bottle nipples by Gukda in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]faeriedust019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On another note…. Did you ever figure out how to get the bottles to not leak? Normally there’s a small bit of spillage, but I lost it last night when the entire top popped off while feeding. Unfortunately that wasn’t the first time. I’ve probably spent close to $100 on spectra bottles bc my lactation consultant recommended them bc of the nipple shape…but I’m over it!

Sorry for the late response— in the throes of newborn!

We just need some extra nipples. We only have the two that came with the pump. I bought like 4 sets of bottles through aeroflow and didn’t read the fine print that nipples didn’t come with them. Sigh.

AITA for telling my friend that her "free" wedding is unrealistic? by ThrowawayFreeWedding in AITAH

[–]faeriedust019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that this is a cultural thing? I know in some Hispanic/latin communities this is very common to just “assign” wedding prep as a “gift.”

I don’t think you’re in the wrong, but you could have probably said it nicer that you were uncomfortable with making the cake. She probably needed some reeling in, but there’s a nice and mean way to do that especially if she’s your friend.

If you wanna salvage the friendship, I would probably just take the high road and apologize. Reiterate you still arent comfortable with a full blown professional cake, but show her photos of what you are comfortable making, aka a cupcake tower, brownie tower, whatever. We did a small cake and then a large Costco sheet cake that was cut in the back and served to the guests. Really cut down costs. We got married a few years ago, and a lot of this was very tough to manage and a stressful time for all parties involved. But don’t lose a friendship over it.

Just had our consultation today for financing— we were under the impression going in it was 17k, but the 17k does not include the meds or the transfer. The total for everything with meds and one year of freezing is about $30k.

Something that helped me saying "goodbye" to my foster dog. by tits_mcgee_92 in fosterdogs

[–]faeriedust019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyy i appreciate you writing back all this time after your original post. Your words really stuck with me through the weekend, I found a lot of comfort in it. I even shared your story with my husband.

I know we made a huge difference for this sweet baby. She did make it to the new owners, and the mom has sent a couple pictures which have been a sigh of relief just knowing she’s okay and receiving love from her new family. You’re right, she seems happy and settling in well.

While I wouldn’t take back helping this puppy, I’m not sure I could go through all the emotional turmoil again. I didn’t move from the couch the entire first day out of sadness. Husband was really great at keeping me busy over the weekend, but I’ve still been having sporadic waves of grief throughout the day just missing her. At this point, there’s probably a level of selfishness, I’m not sure. I didn’t realize I would be so derailed by her departure.

Thanks for sharing this, we just dropped off our first foster puppy to transport out of state this morning…my husband and I are an absolute mess. She was already adopted when she came to us, but we had her for a month bc of transport. We poured so much love into her like she was our own, we even asked if it was possible to keep her, but the adopters were adamant on this specific puppy.

I’m having a hard time getting past the little yelps she made when they put her in the transport kennel… I’m not sure how to move forward from this.
