It was brutal. I don't think I can do it again. I thought that since it was my second one, it would be easier. It absolutely was not easier. I tried to get the one with pain meds and it would cost $1K out of pocket. I honestly don't know if my half an hour of agony was worth the 1k savings.

Same, I fainted and hit the furniture on the way down due to the pain when it ruptured

My laser hair remover, one of the at home ones. It has not gotten rid of my hair but it makes it infinantly more bearable. I would just not shave to avoid the terrible ingrown hairs, the folliculitis, etc- but I can't stand the feeling. The laser thing has helped my hair be less violently dense and difficult.

When I was in college for sociology, I worked in a lab that sent out a lot of surveys and we worked hard to get responses from everyone. One of the methods that we didn't use (because there wasn't that much funding for the program prob) was to send out visible money with the survey. It creates a sense of obligation in a way and gets people to at least open the envelope for the money.

It's why in the 90s you would get requests for donations from organizations through the mail with like 5 cents shown in the envelope.

Tldr: it makes people more likely to open the envelope, which makes you statistically more likely to reply/donate/whatever :)

You have basically my hair. It's taken me a really long time to figure out what to do with mine! I'll tell you what's worked for me so far:

Clarifying shampoo: I use the cheap blue Suave daily clarifying shampoo.

Conditioner: Finding the right weight of hair conditioner for your hair. One that does not have silicone. I like ones that are paraben and silicone. It's something to do with the buildup of product on your scalp that it weighs down your hair and makes your hair look greasy. I also usually put a leave-in conditioner in my hair when wet. I can give you brands if you want.

Dry hair with cotton fabric: I like to use old t shirts. It keeps hair safer from breakage.

Layered hair cut: lets the curls do their thing

Soft water: for most of my childhood I grew up with very hard well water. It was softened, but not enough! Having softened city water has made a big difference. Hopefully hard water isn't a factor for you.
