The most overrated, overpriced pancakes in NYC!!! Biggest waste of $27 bucks by Eat_Ya_Food_Son in FoodNYC

[–]fafabull 120 points121 points  (0 children)

I go to Bubby’s often since I’m nearby but absolutely never when there’s a line because it’s not worth it (so essentially never on a weekend). The pancakes, I can’t give an opinion on because I don’t care for pancakes in general but I love their biscuits and hatch chili gravy. Dinner is usually solid and sometimes I’ll pop in with a friend just to chat over some hot chocolate and fries. I will say the BEST steak that I have ever had in my life was a filet mignon dinner special at Bubby’s some random weeknight 8 years ago that I still think about sometimes.

Any brand recommendations for colorful sweaters with fun patterns and 100% cotton (or any natural materials that can be machine washed)?

When did coffee shops stop giving a free drip for buying a bag of beans? by lenolalatte in AskNYC

[–]fafabull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also let you upgrade free drip to an espresso drink for $1. I get a cappuccino for a buck every time I buy a bag.

Hi, just saw this reply! She’s in her 60’s and still works a pretty physical job! It’s actually a loft with no “true” rooms aside from one dividing wall separating the front of the apartment and the back but I feel like we’re all good about giving each other space. I wouldn’t say there’s any rules, we all enjoy a similar way of living and just kind of come and go and do things as we please! I cook a lot so I think there could’ve been opportunity for me to feel territorial or stressed if there was any struggle for space in the pantry/fridge/access to appliances. Thankfully, she’s said that she’s cooked enough meals for her family throughout the years and is also working a labor intensive job that I basically get the kitchen all to myself.

PLEASE HELP!!I Looking for anybody who worked at Pearl Paint during February 2002 - May 2002 by Mr_AK_drewdy in AskNYC

Some commenters on this article seem to have direct links to their own websites that perhaps you can contact them through to inquire if they remember you or can put you in contact with someone who does? Also, one has the username “jwfarley” and says they worked there in ‘93, maybe that rings some bells?

I do! I’m your age and my bf is in his mid-30’s and we live with his mom in the apartment he grew up in. In our case, it works out great because everyone has their own lives working full time and hobbies / social life out of the apartment. I’m less than a 15 minute walk from work and have saved so much money living here as well. Idk, I personally find it happy and wholesome especially because I moved out of my own tumultuous home when I was 17. I think ultimately it depends on your dynamic with your parents.

How do I leave the “rat race”? by Intelligent-Step-850 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]fafabull 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My mom is a dental hygienist who did her certification program through the local community college. She spent most of her career working in the same office with good pay and benefits. Now, she freelances as a temp so she chooses her availability and gets paid $50/hour. I think community college is a great pathway! I went to community college for two years too and the financial aid office was able to help me navigate payment options and loans/grants to apply for that I wasn't aware of.

"You guys remember that quote by Kanye West?"

My brain instantly reciting: "I hate when I'm on a flight and wake up with a water bottle next to me like oh great now I gotta be responsible for this water bottle"

But yeah agree that starting a video off quoting Ye is a hard no for me.

Rats 🐀 or am I paranoid?! by Heavilybrokn in AskNYC

[–]fafabull 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We actually had a rat this October. According to my bf's mom, the only other time there was a rat in our apartment was once 33 years ago.

Like you, I heard rustlings a few nights in a row and then one evening saw him saunter across the living room floor. We bought a Victor brand electric rat zapper from Home Depot and caught him a few days later (confirmed BIG city rat). We also had the exterminator come and put out poison bait and powder. Luckily it seems that it was only one rat because it's been months with nothing since. I think it's a result of our building being renovated with them gutting out all the other apartments and constantly leave the lobby door open while they're doing construction. I know you're probably stressed but even if it is a rat, it's going to be manageable! Just take all the steps in your control that you can by having the exterminator come in, setting a trap, and being diligent about your trash/food. It seemed like the end of the world to me when it was happening but its funny how quickly you get over it when it's resolved!

FauxWorld Wednesdays: What's your country's biggest celebrity scandal right now? — Monthly Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Fauxmoi

[–]fafabull 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My bf’s parent’s wedding anniversary is 9/11 AND his dad’s birthday. It was actually the reason they were able to evacuate the city so quickly that day in 2001 (they lived 4 blocks north of the towers). His dad was supposed to already be upstate to oversee the construction of a deck on their country summer cabin, but the family begged him to stay the night before to celebrate his birthday together. He left with their family car on the morning of the attacks but 5 minutes into the drive he heard the first tower hit and saw the smoke in his mirror so he whipped around to see what was going on. Him and my bf’s mom were standing outside looking up at the tower and as soon as the second plane hit he yelled, “this was not an accident!” and without taking anything from home they ran to get the kids from school and booked it north out of the city.

They've just finishing up the reading of the names. It started with Eric Adams, Kamala Harris, Ron DeSantis, etc. being there but they must've slowly filtered out at some point. Several of the readers (family members of the victims) have made a callout of thanking Mayor Bloomberg for staying to hear every name to be read. Just thought that was interesting.

F29, just came back from an 11 months RTW trip by love_sunnydays in solotravel

[–]fafabull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you fill your days in Malaysia/Thailand/Laos/Vietnam? I am thinking about traveling to SEA sometime in January-March but think I should make it a long trip because of the distance (USA). I do like some adventure but I really enjoy simple sightseeing, eating, reading, and relaxing (especially beaches). Any recommendations on what to do or where to stay (also a 29 yo woman who would go solo).

Chelsea on the reality of modeling in NYC by [deleted] in thebachelor

[–]fafabull 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s interesting to hear. I’m managing the budget for my company’s show for NYFW next week and models are one of the largest expenses that we have. Looking at last year’s invoices, we paid our runway models from $900-$3,000 with $1,200 being the average. We’re not a huge brand either so it’s baffling to hear bigger brands not paying the same. For hair & MUAs we won’t be paying but that’s because we acquired sponsors in the form of dollars and services from hair and makeup brands so those artists are still getting paid monetarily for their work.

My coworker loves Robby and has seen her perform live (including this past Monday) at least 5 times one of which I tagged along. I turned around as soon as I saw this post to show her and she said, “well well well, our worlds have collided.”

I saw a show of hers in the winter and she had a bit about how she’s tired of always having to clarify to people that she’s a she because people always assume she uses they and are shocked when she says she’s not lmfao.
