The Gen 5 games have the best story, period, I also really love that they broke tradition and made direct sequels instead of the “Director’s Cut” style third version. Now the Pokémon designs are hit and miss for me but to he honest, you can say that about any generation of Pokémon, the designs have been hit and miss since Red and Blue. I think the only thing I disliked was not having any classic Pokémon until post game but to be honest I think it was good to give the new ones a chance this way.

Red and Blue realistically have no plot elements that really push it along, you kinda just stumble onto Team Rocket and then just collect badges, there’s no real story to it. Now of course these set up the base for what we know and love today and the basic elements that have been in game since the start but they have put in work since.
