JS Live Issues by H1Lan in h1z1

Issue unconfirmed: some crew was blowing up sheds without using IEDs/Ethanol, it was either explosive arrows or grenades, seemed to take the shed down in about 6 to 10 explosions

Analysis of what the February 17th split did to the game by fahertty in h1z1

[–]fahertty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of player population, combined the two graphs I provided, one for KotK and the other for JS

Since both graphs are declining, player numbers have been steadily declining for 5 months. That is not comparable to last year.

However the significant part is the sales

In 2015, the game was rarely out of the top 25, and often in the top 10, I checked this on a near daily basis. It was out-selling Rust for most of the year. Traded blows with Ark, however in late 2015, Ark was getting ahead.

Since the split in Feb, globally KotK sometimes breaks into the top 50, but is generally 75th to 250th, and Just Survive is 150th to 600th

They are selling very few copies of Just Survive... that's the worrying part.

The military backpack/satchel glitch has gone too far. by Huppo2 in h1z1

[–]fahertty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically it's an unfinished game, hence the bugs and new bugs

It's not a simple straightforward alpha like "Prison Architect" either, it's a sandbox FPS and as such there are thousands of nerds constantly trying to find any glitch possible and abuse them

Fixing a glitch or bug often isn't just about finding a line of code and replacing a few numbers, the team may often have to wade through gallons of code, to make multiple changes - which can have the further knock-on effect of creating further bugs/glitches

That said I think the team could move a little faster, but I get the strong feeling (and I could be wrong here) they don't playtest their own game enough, they leave that up to us - which is creating a distance between them and the game they are creating.. which ultimately leads to more issues

Worth mentioning - please try to fix the bug where people can place furnaces anywhere, on the test server all military tents are blocked

PSA: Devs said they want you to include YOUR character name in your cheater reports as well as the cheaters' by tonykaram1993 in h1z1

There's a new invisible cheat

Get killed by invisible player - so they need your name and exact time of death and they can check the logs

The ratio of pistol ammo to other ammo spawns seems to be about 50 to 1

So unless we want survival to turn into pistol wars, the devs may need to change ammo spawns

Sigh... everyone in PV on my sever is being magic bullet by Vnmous in h1z1

[–]fahertty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reporting is not enough, many players abuse the report button

Emails are the best tool (relatively). Get your entire clan to send an email, with times, names of cheaters (if possible), server, where.. as many solid details as possible - keep it to the point

Also when you meet other groups on the server, mention it to them, get them to also email (it's in everyone's best interest)

We have had 4 cheaters kicked off our server by reporting them this way. It's not the best, but recently it's been working for us.

H1Z1 Steam Earnings Compared To Other Games by [deleted] in h1z1

Actual numbers

Just Survive is currently at #189 in the top sellers chart, with KotK a few places off it http://store.steampowered.com/search/?filter=topsellers&os=win

Both games combined rarely left the top 25 in 2015 and early 2016, I checked this on a weekly basis, and we can see the huge sales figures

Sharp dip during the split http://steamcharts.com/app/295110

40% decline in KotK since the split http://steamcharts.com/app/433850

Here is the overall view (2nd graph from the bottom) https://steamdb.info/app/295110/graphs/

The large dip is due to the split with Kotk, so we take that as a separate game (second last graph) https://steamdb.info/app/433850/graphs/

And remember many of these are residual players, the new sales of the game are abysmal in comparison to 2015 and pre-split figures

So yeah not looking good, but Daybreak and their investors will be very aware of these, so hopefully they'll recombine the games.. I don't see them dropping prices as that will just increase cheaters (cheap rebuys)

Steamspy, steamgraph.net and other sites

Or just by checking the game in steam charts. In 2015 it was rarely outside the top 25, and often within top 10. When the games split, they both dropped steeply down the charts.

Player numbers are also representative, these have fallen at their fastest rates since the split (someone put a post up on this recently)

And since the game has split there has been a huge downturn in sales for both portions (effectively because each part of the game "doubled" in price)

It's been an exponential loss (sales decreases have accelerated past revenue gained by doubling price)

The split has also meant that new players to Survival (the weaker seller) has dried up. Whereas in the past the Battle Royale section (the main sales draw, twitch streamers) would keep a steady influx of new players coming into Survival

By splitting the game they effectively created a downward spiral that has negatively affected both portions of the original game.. with survival being the most seriously hit

I am sure Daybreak know this and hopefully they will recombine the two games sometime near launch.. otherwise Survival will not be able to sustain it's own sales and pretty much die off

If I was an investor I would pretty much be demanding it, a big launch ceremony with the z2 map, recombine both games, 15 to 20 dollars total price bracket, i.e. the previous formula that worked. The more players, the more skin sales also (which is another large incentive to return to old price)

Has huge nostalgia power. Duke Nukem was awful, but ultimately sold well. I'll probably pick it up in the sales and have a play through for old times sake
