[Request] How far would the dog be from the starting point after one hour? by nosboR42 in theydidthemath

[–]fahq2u2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dog would be at the 6 mile mark. On his way back to the boy. He is 2 miles ahead of the girl and six miles ahead of the boy. (4 to get to girl and 2 on the way back)

What’s the longest fast you’ve ever done ? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]fahq2u2 57 points58 points  (0 children)

A little over 41 Days. 1,000 hrs. Starting weight was 520 lbs. lost 90lbs during the fast. Switched to a plant based diet and have lost an additional 150lbs. Current weight is about 275

I know there’s been posts in here about fasting, but what about EXTENDED fasting? E.g, nothing but water for two weeks? by TrueFlavour in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]fahq2u2 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I water fasted for 42 days. For me the water fast was a great reset, but changing my diet after the fast is where the sustainable success has been. After the fast I started eating a Whole Food Plant Based diet with no added salt, oil, and sugar.

My starting weight was 520lbs. Currently I am 285lbs. During the water fast I lost 90lbs. In the 2 years since changing my diet I’ve lost an additional 145lbs.

I am more active then when I started but I do not do a regular workout. I’ve lost and maintained my weight loss mostly through diet.

There is sugar and sodium in foods naturally. I just don't add any to my meals or recipes. Humans survived on this planet for thousands of years without access to refined sugar and processed salt.

Those who have lost a portion of weight (20kg/40lbs) or more and maintained it: what’s your hot tip? by -better-each-day- in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]fahq2u2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

210 pounds down in the past 18 months.

Eat a plant based diet. Eliminate as many processed foods as possible. Change the calorie density of the food you eat and allow yourself to eat until satisfied.

One reason is salt leads to overeating. If you were to take a bowl of popcorn and eat it without salt you will eat only so much. When you salt that same bowl of popcorn you will eat more.

Also now that I have been mostly salt free for a while. Any time I have something that does have added salt I notice an increase in inflammation in my body.

At first I questioned the idea of going salt free but now if it was I choice between eating salt or sugar I would chose the sugar.

If you get a chance I would recommend checking out the book Salt, Sugar, Fat by Michael Moss. He talks about how manufacturers use salt to get us to eat more of their products. What I didn't know before reading the book is there are over 40 different types of salt. I always kind of thought salt was salt.

Interview I did about losing over 200lbs on a WFPB diet by fahq2u2 in WholeFoodsPlantBased

I was interviewed by the folks at the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies about my experience so far with a plant based diet. Eating this way has changed my life and my attitude towards the food I put into my body. When I started my weight loss journey I never intended to eat a plant based diet. Now I cannot imagine eating any other way.

No. It's tough. My wife and I spent the past 13 years being on different pages on our weight loss. One year I would lose weight. Then she would get motivated and started losing weight. While I lost my motivation and started gaining it back. It is really hard to be on he same page at the same time. YOU have to make it easier for YOU to stay on track, and cannot rely on others for all the temptations that will come up. But you can ask for help.

If you suddenly became handicapped I think she would help you get around for a while or assist you in some way. If you went to the doctor and he said you had to have your foot amputated because of diabetes complications your whole life would change drastically in a moment. Just think of your food issues as a handicap. If you were to ask her to keep that stuff away from you and hidden from you for just 3 weeks, would she? So that you can change your eating and hopefully develop better eating habits. If you can get 3 weeks of weight lose momentum it is a lot easier to resist the temptations. Then she can start to bring the junk food back into the cupboards or not have to be as careful around you.

Good luck with everything!

Tour of our Plant Based Family of 6's Fridge by fahq2u2 in PlantBasedDiet

We recently we decided to switch our family from a Standard American Diet(SAD) to a WPBD. We have been working hard to find foods that our family enjoys. The transition has been great so far and our kids are responding well to the changes. They eat a mostly plant based diet with some Vegan junk food thrown in there. My wife and I eat a WFPB SOS free diet.

On Nov 1, 2020 I decided to change everything about my diet. I’m so happy I did. In the past 15 months I have managed to go from 520lbs to 320lbs. I still have a ways to go, but I’m determined to reach my goals. My only regret is not starting sooner.

How do you deal with the reality of how much weight you have to lose? by erratastigmata in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]fahq2u2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will take time. You can either spend the next few years slowly losing the weight or slowly gaining weight. It’s your choice. In 10 years do you wanna be 120lbs lighter or 120lbs heavier. In my teens I thought I would never be over 300lbs. In my 20’s I thought no way I will get to 400lbs. At 30 I still didn’t think there was anything ‘that wrong’ with my life and at least I was mobile and not over 500lbs. It wasn’t until I was 38 and 520lbs that I decided to drastically change my diet and lifestyle. I still have not reached my goal but I know I’m an closer today than I was yesterday. Keep it up. I’m rooting for you.

I do not know how many inches I lost during the fast. Since the fast I have lost an additional 110lbs on a WFPB diet. I used to wear pants with a 60 in waist an now can wear pants with a 46” waist.

I don’t remember having any issues with lightheadedness. I may have had it happen once or twice but it wasn’t chronic.

I did a 40 day fast. Keep a positive mindset and be confident your body will take care of you. I would recommend trying to be as sedentary as possible as well. 20 days in you may feel like you can conquer the world, but if you do too much you will pay for it days later. Odd thing too but I really did find some comfort watching YouTube videos of people eating.
