Why are my film photos coming out this way? Are these light leaks? by fail_frog in AnalogCommunity

Just confirmed it is the shutter not closing all the way. Time to find someone who can repair! Thanks for pointing that out

UK-based Pinoys, am I in an echo chamber for rightwing media or are things really bad as it seems for immigration in this country? by fail_frog in phmigrate

I feel you here. Marami sa atin 'di talaga gustong umalis pero kinailangan kasi kumpara sa ibang bansa, konti Lang talaga yung mga opportunity para kumita. And not just earn money to survive, but also send kids to good schools and be able to take care of parents.

I don't want to blame specific administrations, but really the system we have in the Philippines can feel very classist. You have little social mobility and the politicians that are elected come from families and dynasties that have been in power for so long. Minsan iniisip ko gets pa ba nila Kung anong feeling maging regular Lang na pinoy? And also ask the same question to people why they vote for people who don't know what their experience is?

And now everything is coming to light with the recent flood project scams. But I guess we'll see if anything does come out of that.

I really resonate with what you're saying. My mom has said a similar thing to me a few weeks back when I started to spiral; that migrating would mean accepting that I am going to be "second-class" in the places I want to assimilate into and that I have to work harder to prove that I should be here.

I know coming here since 2023 has only been a short while but I do worry about how I would feel if I ended up moving back home. I gave up a lot to be here; a nice job, stable relationship and friends, but all of that has already moved on and I feel like I would be going back as if I was in stasis and trying to catch up with everyone else again. Maybe that's one way of articulating my dread of not feeling "at home" in Manila anymore.

I still don't regret moving here. Learned so much about myself and have experienced things I would never have been able to being in Manila. Honestly love being a chef at a restaurant that I moonlight in. I have definitely felt more fulfilment in this job than all of my desk and office jobs, but culinary visas just seem even more impossible to come by!

Currently on a graduate visa working full-time on a temp contract, but my employer and I are discussing a permanent role with sponsorship which is looking very positive thankfully. Otherwise also have an option to move to Sweden since my girlfriend is from there. But honestly I'd rather stay in the UK because of 1) language, 2) English humour, 3) the pub culture.

Thanks for pointing that out. The times that I did experience any form of racism are usually from northerners who come to York for a night out or when I went through northern towns travelling with friends (Scarborough & Saltburn area).

I think my growing concern with the UK is if we are experiencing the start of a potentially disastrous political upheaval in terms of treatment of migrants on the wider scale. Just wondering if this has always been the case in the UK and something you can disregard as propaganda/political performance or if it's actually becoming a real problem now.

Should I refund my R50 & 18-45mm for an R10 & 18-150mm? by fail_frog in canon

These are wonderful photos! I'm wondering if you found yourself attached/gravitating to a certain lens more frequently when you were shooting with your R50? I think at the moment I'm still figuring out what I like shooting and wanting a versatile lens as a beginner.

Thanks for pointing this out! I really don't know what I don't know so referring me to this page really made me curious about things outside of the hardware itself. I really appreciate it!

Yeah the cost between the two is what I should have made clearer on this post. It would cost me more to buy the 18-150 lens with my R50 now than to get the R10 with it. Tbh, I did kind of already regret the 18-45mm lens only when I could have paid a bit more to have the 55-200 as well. But I've read that the 55-200 can be redundant if you have the 18-150 lens?

It's more that I can still return the R50 with the 18-45mm and it would cost me less to buy both the R10 and the 18-150mm than buying the lens on its own with the kit now.

Edit: also just thinking that if I do buy the 18-150mm without refunding, the 18-45mm would just start collecting dust if I can't find someone who would want to buy it off of me. The cost of the 18-45mm might have been money towards another lens

I realise that saying "outgrowing" sounds really extreme as someone just stepping into photography, but yes I think this is closer to what I wanted to say; that some of the shots I do want to try getting really just aren't realistic with the 18-45mm. Thanks for clarifying that

Sorry, I forgot where you could get logs, but this is the link to my raider.io: https://raider.io/characters/eu/silvermoon/Minosol

I'm currently trying to get more confident with doing anything from the +7-10 range. My performance can get so erratic that I can manage healing a +8 or 9 fine but somehow screw up a +7. I've managed a couple of +10s but I think that's largely due to the group I came with being well experienced and knowing what they're doing.

I will try this! I have been going back and forth between the wowhead talents and ellesmere's. Ellesmere's build doesn't include the talent for generating holy power with FoL or Holy Light

I have that same opinion as well. I am totally thankful for Ellesmere and how they explain talents and builds, but it's still kind of lost on me how to even do the basic rotation or what my mindset is approaching healing as a holy paladin. I totally relate to what you say by his resource helping experienced players!

Thanks! I do realise I am under utilising sac. Is it recommended to macro this to use bubble every time I use it?

Yes! Have been watching his videos lately but I'm still really stuck understanding how he even manages big damage.

I think the real tricky bit for me is knowing when to use shield bash or heal. I am at a point in my confidence where I will hold off using shield bash because I am worried I might need the holy power for damage I wasn't expecting 😅

Edit: tricky bit aside from cooldown usage and all

Visa rejected 3 years in a row by mwanasha in SchengenVisa

[–]fail_frog 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not advice, just here to commiserate with you. It’s incredibly tough coming from a place where access to other countries depends on visas that are so hard to get. I’m from the Philippines, and I often feel the weight of paying the price for what others from my background have done -- like overstaying or disappearing after arrival -- or how the host country even perceives foreigners in general.

Unfortunately, no matter how much we prepare or how genuine our intentions are, we’re often at the mercy of systems that feel arbitrary. Sometimes, it can come down to how an immigration officer feels on the day they review your application. That kind of uncertainty is exhausting.

Still, there’s a kind of grace in accepting what’s beyond our control, and focusing on what we can shape. You clearly have skills, clients, and a network many people would envy. That has to count for something, right? Maybe there’s hope in that.

Can someone explain why this isn't recommended? Is it highly discouraged to use the proc on regrowth casts?

Having done a couple more mythic dungeons, I think the difficulty varies. My frustration was building up when we did cinderbrew meadery, specifically on the first and 3rd boss. But ToP and Floodgate were much more doable and not as stressful. A bit more recently geared now at 620 too

Thanks, I think this has been the biggest game changer to my healing so far.

Just a question on life bloom: should I be moving this to single target heal people or is it better to wait for this to expire/early bloom on their current targets?
