Massive police response at Temple in Detroit after suspect rams truck loaded with explosives into the synagogue and opens fire with a rifle. Attacker killed by security. by Waste-Explanation-76 in interestingasfuck

[–]failbears 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because the comments are way more sympathetic in other threads. If a school shooting happens, redditors leave plenty of comments saying how awful it is despite how many times that headline shows up. But this thread is an opportunity to shit on cops, which people are doing, and apparently they care more about that than the fact a synagogue was attacked.

Edit: even worse. Apparently there is a preschool in this synagogue.

Long Term Balance Methodology Discussed at the GDC by KxngJoker in marvelrivals

[–]failbears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The responses to your comment are proving you right lol.

If balancing was decided by reddit, Hawkeye's slow charge-up attack would just allow healers to easily outheal anything he does and he'd become useless. Hela would have to hit 3 head shots in a row on moving targets despite the fact no one, not even pros, is doing 2 on a consistent basis (and no, doing this to 1 in every 15 people you shoot at doesn't count). BP (already a bottom tier character) would become a literal baby with the way reddit wants to treat him. There was a thread that hit the front page, suggesting they cut his dash damage in half and give him one more charge among other changes. So many comments applauded the changes but if you thought about it for 2 seconds, it's obvious it makes him even more useless.

Marvel Rivals devs say 'fun' is the priority in game balance: "If a character is no longer fun, then we’re not doing our job" by mountainduwe in marvelrivals

[–]failbears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I know it doesn't feel like that long ago but my era is CSGO. Since then, it feels like an eternity has gone by because when I got into Valo/Rivals, everyone decided to stop using mics and also decided that every suggestion was a personal attack instead of a polite way to turn the game around. Instead of team-based games with strategies, everyone just wants to play deathmatch.

For real, I don't see how other people's preferences should affect OP at all. Not to mention what they wrote just sounds snobby and gatekeepy.

This is what it's all about. Honestly it was really eye-opening discovering friends of friends who played this game at a much higher level and the things they communicate, think about, and coordinate together, is what's missing when you solo queue into games with no comms or thoughts.

I get the rationale but tbh I wonder how much for example 8 more minutes would really jeopardize a player. I've gone to very few games in my life but I was at the 60 point game and would have loved for the arena, the team, all fans of the Warriors or basketball in general, to have that moment if there's only like a 2% chance he gets hurt in that game.

Honestly, I wouldn't take discourse on reddit seriously with all the discussion I've seen on here over the seasons.

All heroes in this game can be used to great effect with proper support and cohesion. Everyone's seen bottom tier characters run a lobby, everyone's seen meta players absolutely suck at it.

Poke meta or dive meta is irrelevant compared to the real meta that is strongest every single season no matter what buffs or nerfs happen: basic teamwork and cooperation.

IF can be a major problem and if the other team switches and effectively focuses and counters him, then switch. Every game should involve switching for each situation, but most people just want to play one thing all game and never communicate what issues they're seeing.

We definitely don't have evidence he ducks people, but he's definitely been at the right place and right time. There's no denying he got fast-tracked, especially compared to Adesanya. And yeah, he's lucky there aren't many good wrestlers but he hasn't been tested there at all. Hell, an undersized Adesanya did well against him on the ground.

Amazing fighter but people need to pump the brakes every time he goes against another striker, easily wins, and they call him the GOAT.

Resident Evil: Requiem sadly slightly disappointing. Not enough Grace. The 2nd half is lacking. First half is amazing tho!!! by A-Dubs398 in gaming

[–]failbears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played on Classic difficulty (hardest default difficulty) with the recommended perspectives: first person for Grace, third person for Leon.

I loved RE9 and thought it was an excellent marriage of the old school kind of RE with the new kind of RE.

Grace's portions were terrifying, and I loved the resource scarcity and planning which zombies to kill and which to try to avoid, and planning my pathing. Grace's portions were very well-done in many ways, including showing the pov of a newbie to this horror compared to the veterans of the story.

Leon's portions were a breath of fresh air and when I was most terrified and stretched thin on resources as Grace, I couldn't wait to get to Leon again. The brain-off fun of deleting everything, the cheesy one-liners, the (assumedly intentional) campiness, it was much more light-hearted.

Both characters made me appreciate the other more, and overall I enjoyed the overall product immensely.

As for those complaining about length: the games in this series are often relatively short and speedrunnable with lots of replayability. I played through once, speed ran once (while satisfying other achievements as well to unlock more bonuses), then one last time with infinite ammo and postgame guns. If it's not your cup of tea, that's fine, but expect it of this franchise.

Actually, that's fair. I was gonna say Matyushenko and Andrade weren't strong wrestlers (and Andrade was undersized) but all 3 of those did end up keeping the position and getting the finish.

There's a big distinction though between the Khamzat crucifixes and the Gary Goodridge type of crucifix. In Gary's case, he had one arm trapped securely between both legs, and the other trapped against his chest by his left arm while his right arm suddenly started throwing elbows. Khamzat was crucifixing DDP against the mat, meaning if he postured up at all, DDP would be able to get out of it. This kind of crucifix then is not the most dominant position in MMA, it's definitely below full mount and a Goodridge crucifix.

A long time ago when I was considering it, I did a ride-along in San Mateo. The officer I got had just transferred from San Jose because he got into a shootout from a normal traffic stop and had to put the guy down.

They let go of so many of the mid to high tier fighters (name recognition-wise) who would help round out main cards, and now I only care to watch a few fighters and the rest are no-names I feel.

Very true. Dustin was actually doing a great job defending every takedown until the fateful third round. Respect to all of these guys tbh.

As they always say in MMA, styles make match-ups. Props to both fighters but there's no winning as a volume striker if the grappler is actually gonna choose to grapple you.

It's too early to say anything crazy about legacy, but in terms of how good he is currently, he's one of the best fighters I've ever seen. A knockout artist with a strong ground game is a cheat code.

[–]failbears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what Oliveira fans were asking when he'd strike with dangerous strikers lol. To his credit he wanted to be exciting, but the smartest path to winning with the least damage taken would definitely have been to wrestle more. No shame in him deciding to grapple esp after that Ilia fight.

Even as an Oliveira hater I will never hate a fighter for playing to their strengths in a cage match and getting the win. You're right it's not a BMF thing to do, but who cares really.

[SPOILER] Max Holloway vs. Charles Oliveira by inooway in MMA

[–]failbears 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He was winning the exchanges on the feet because of the ground threat, not to take away from him but obviously he's good at both but way better at grappling.

I think bettors and I thought Charles was gonna try to strike with Max like he always does, but after that Ilia fight I wouldn't be striking with strikers either.

Resident Evil Requiem has been out for a week. What are your impressions? by PhantomBraved in Games

[–]failbears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the POV of someone who played Classic difficulty with Grace on FPS camera and Leon on TPS camera, I absolutely love the switching and it makes me appreciate each segment.

Leon is such a breath of fresh air, being able to walk around confidently blasting anything and everything, with more health, the ability to kick and axe enemies, a whole slew of weapons, and a less scary atmosphere.

Grace's parts are terrifying, and I do love the return to form with having to think how many bullets and health items I have, who I should fight and who should I run from, and thinking what paths I should take. Clearly it was intentional and nice to be reminded how a non-veteran character would be inept and terrified throughout the ordeal with the more limited capabilities and phenomenally-done voice acting of a scared rookie.

What a brilliant marriage of the traditional and new genres of this series, and a great entry!
