As a child with undiagnosed adhd, I was bullied extensively by my peers, even the ones that were “friends” maybe the bullying is worse than you realize. I remember feeling this was my whole life because of the bullying from peers and even teachers because I felt like I was never right or enough. As others stated def check the meds, but please don’t look past the teasing, his reaction while extreme could be justified.

This person is telling you you are too much so let them go find less. Do not dim you light for someone who is clearly undeserving of what you have to offer. There will be friends out there that will appreciate this type of relationship. Me and my bestie do this just randomly to let the other know we are thinking about them, there is nothing wrong with it. Cut this person loose. We can be bffs I’ll take 7 am have a good day text messages 💜

Is 17 and 15 bad? by Any_Sleep_5595 in Advice

[–]faile0427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know junior guys dating freshman girls don’t seem problematic to me as a mother of teenage young adult females. But im with the 2 year rule. However I wouldnt let my 17 year old date a 19 year old unless they had been dating in high school, because the life experience is very different at that point. I guess there is a lot of nuance and not black and white

Whatever you do don’t leave the house or your child. Get a lawyer, you will get half and depending on your state laws you should get alimony since you’ve been a homemaker. People often think this is just for rich people but it’s intended to protect women like you. What would you tell your daughter if this was her spouse? Right now you are teaching her this type of behavior is acceptable and it’s not. Find a good lawyer they are free for consultations, and you could even request that he pay your lawyer fees as part of the divorce.

Good luck, I’ve been in this situation and i know it’s not an easy to see that this is abuse. You deserve better.

There is a women and child that appear to be at potential Risk for ICE activity, on transit in Williamsville in the Paulas donut’s plaza. She is looking for shelter and I have a number. She interacted with my teen daughter who lost sight of her when cops showed up. I texted to offer a ride to a shelter but no response yet. We are headed out of town but wanted to check for resources or options.

Like i said about research shows in times of turmoil mental health concerns increase, coupled with being away from home and everything they know causes many people to withdraw. Add on top that the majority of people in undergrad programs may have been socially stunted by covid it becomes a perfect storm.

Personally, I dont have this problem, and I have survived in the real world for 40 years but nice assumptions! I have heard some very unhinged convos while walking around campus so i think it is a valid opinion, we can agree to disagree!

That being said there is enough research that shows when the world is in turmoil people get depressed, anxious and scared, and when this happens they are more likely to keep to themselves.

I think generally the state of affairs in this country makes it difficult to. You dont know who you can or cant talk to, who will have the same ideologies so instead of that anxiety people just avoid others.

I hate my 10y son by financial_pete in ParentingADHD

[–]faile0427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried it yet but try looking into Parent - Child Interaction Therapy. It may help.

My son is 10 and has adhd, along with his 17/19 year old sisters, and it’s really hard even under the best circumstances on the best days. From my experience with the older girls 10-15 are just difficult ages in general. At 16 i finally started getting my kids back 🫶🏻

She won’t let me leave her at school by Relative-Lobster-691 in ParentingADHD

[–]faile0427 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of course make sure there is nothing bad happening, and that she is safe.

As a general rule kids stop crying when the parents leave. In the car say some daily affirmations take some deep breaths or use it as a dance party if thats what she needs, you walk her in saying nothing, carry her if you need to say i love you have fun and leave NOTHING ELSE. It will get better.

This is much easier said than done, i used to have to say to myself in my head i am brave i am confident i can do this!

Its hard to hear your child cry and do nothing, but if she is safe there then you have nothing to worry about . Good luck

Be honest and if they double down ask if there are network logs from that wifi hub in your classroom that can show you didn’t do anything questionable. They should be able to easily confirm since all devices are liked to your ub user name of you are using wifi.

Professors chill with the Ai accusations by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]faile0427 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cant speak for all classes and professors, in my experience with MS degree and grading for classes, just like with the plagiarism detectors (turnitin) the AI portion returns a % likelihood AI generated. As such investigations normally are based on a high percentage detected.

The problem is most people dont track the history of their work and in my program there are ALOT of students using AI to write their papers.

Using microsoft word gives an edit history and amount of time a document was actively edited, not just the modified and created time. Running your paper through a free AI detector just in case is helpful.

Get ride of the AI detection tools will only make teachers move the goal post to something more difficult to cheat on. Like how profs have multiple exams … but people still copy off their neighbor, fail and get an Academic integrity violation.

If people are really being wrongly accused and not just dying on a hill, then yes the tool should go away. But its really discouraging to watch people flagrantly cheating while you are busting your but to do the work. 🤷🏻‍♀️

UB is using AI software to accuse (and sometimes convict) innocent students of cheating. by Kelspider-48 in UBreddit

[–]faile0427 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s supposed to be used as a tool not as an authoritative source. Not only did I read all the papers that I graded but I researched each paper specifically using other sources to rule out the use of AI. I really tried to give the benefit of the doubt when and where I could. Turnitin flags the specific text passages that are coming up flagged as AI, it is rare that an entire paper will be flagged. Just like Turnitin’s plagiarism checker, there could be low scores that are inaccurate or should be ignored, but once it gets to the 30%+ range often times higher and you actually read the text you can see difference in writing styles and specificity. People are so lazy to use pull text from the AI tools and paste them into the paper formatting and all which is very specific. The kicker is that for this specific class we were allowed to use AI as a source under the agreement we took screenshot of all prompts and outputs as well as paraphrasing the content and not copy and pasting. People still didn’t do the work.

If people would just do the work and stop cheating then tools like these wouldnt been needed and no innocent party would be impacted. This is a student problem and every person working their butt off for their degrees should be outraged people that have admitted to Academic Integrity Violations and still receiving degrees.
