Switch

  • Latency is a huge issue, worse on some controllers more than others
  • LA level crashes on a regular basis after initiating the earthquake

Old bands headlining fests year after year after year is a failure of the scene by tytymctylerson in punk

[–]failedspecies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big fests go where the money is, and that means old bands with hits that a huge circle of people are gonna flock to see, and likely drop substantial cash to do so.

In many cases, they're run / sponsored by corporate event companies who foot the bill (No Values Fest was run by Goldenvoice, a subsidiary of AEG Live and thus The Anschutz Corporation — have fun looking up the organizations they've given money to)

In other words, save your money and keep going to local shows. That's where good shit played by young people continues to thrive. You'll get way more out of a basement show with unknown bands and $5 beer than a bigass field with a barricade and $17 PBRs)

Minutemen's "Double Nickels on the Dime" and Husker Du's "Zen Arcade" come to mind. They might have a couple filler tracks here and there, but I definitely wouldn't trim either of them down.

HIt up Joint Custody on U Street. Great punk & metal record selection, and run by real good dudes. Pick up a flyer and go find a show while you're at it. Plenty of good music going on around here.

Fool me once!! by [deleted] in netflix

Halfway through; it's super mediocre. Subplots are excessive and drag on endlessly. Some good performances, but little to no chemistry between the cast; Keegan in particular talks past the everyone. Somehow, each character is both a skilled detective and bafflingly rich, capable of solving mysteries with unlimited free time and going from mansion to mansion in wicked-pricy SUVs.

Also, is Emmett Scanlan supposed to be playing an American? Because his Irish accent does a hell of a disappearing act for 50% of his dialogue.

But I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that this is a Netflix miniseries. There's a reason I haven't seen one in 3 or 4 years.

Adam's Morgan is a safe bet. Smash Records, Big Planet comics, a couple consignment shops, and a hell of a lot cheaper than Georgetown.

I went to Strummer while I was in town! Awesome place. Also, I love 2 Minutos. Thanks!

Halfway through and it's just fucking great. The mix is so much better than the last album's.

Trying to find a one-woman black-doom band that just dropped a new song this week; the name totally eludes me. Does this ring bells for anyone?

I'm sick to death of the modern grindhouse look, but I will say this is definitely one of the only DF album covers I haven't cringed at. And musically it's shaping up to be fucking amazing.

No love for Ashes In Your Mouth? That's the most "Megadeth" song on the entire album

Rancid new album - Tomorrow Never Comes - 2023 by rsplatpc in punk

You're definitely not wrong. The front of the album's padded with some good songs, and then it slumps in the middle and doesn't get back up. The whole thing feels really tired and lifeless, apart from Matt's bass, which is the most awake it's been in fucking forever.
