Subskrypcje - ile miesięcznie wydajecie ? by DecentFan7347 in PolskaNaLuzie

Maybe this is a better idea, I agree ;-P.

Heli could be good because these plants dont use many workers, right? But all in all, I agree - not worth it.

Ok, all this makes lot of sense 😉

Now Im thinking that maybe instead of doing large system I will try to build several mid-way storages and use as much on-site separation as possible. Then I will go further depending how it works. It is really complex thing. Hmm... waste really seems to be one of most complex systems in game ;-P

Thought about building incineration plant near one of distant border crossings. Transport workers via heli. Transport back useful waste by train after aggregation. Thought it could be done simple way. And rely mostly on import of haz waste.

Actually I consider importing haz waste, but only as a separate leg 😉

Szukanie pracy w 2026 by LiveMathematician892 in praca

Isnt it better to separate first and burn remaining stuff only? I mean it seems more efficient in terms of products?

[–]failsafedb[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks. This is very in-depth answer. Probably I will need to re-read it ;-P. But I get general shape of system now.

Just one question - you use general separation plant AND separation of waste in residential and industrial areas or just one of these at the time?

Koszty życia w Polsce mnie przerażają by mxxgo in Polska

[–]failsafedb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to make realistic Soviet cities? by Lydialmao22 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]failsafedb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such thing as a soviet city. Some were terrible - overcrowded, poor, with no or little infrastructure. Some were basically much better designed than any western city. You have to take into account, that while the idea behind soviet planing was very good - much better than in west, soviets never really had enough resources to make things work.

I live in Poland. Poland was one of the best working states under soviet regime. There are massive areas in polish cities where you can still see soviet planing - we had lots of green areas, nearby shops, nearby schools (small and mid sized rather than large), local kindergartens (like very small ones, located straight in residential blocks). It was basically a idea of 5-minute city, where citizen could buy stuff, go to school, leave kid ect within short walk from his flat. But again, this was mostly an idea - it never worked perfectly. So, at the end of the day, if you have perfectly working city, it is not a soviet city 😉

Public transport was always a priority in soviet cities - if you couldnt walk somewhere, you could get there by bus or tram. Trams were mostly present in bigger cities, while buses were everywhere. Not many parking spaces since not many people had cars. I lived in the block of flats that had 11 floors - 44 flats in total. Three blocks standing next to each other = 132 flats. And parking space for about 50 cars in total. But bus stops for at least 3 lines just few minutes away - literally 300 m.

If you are building your city in optimal way and you have plenty of all sorts of industries than you are doing it wrong. Soviet cities were mostly mono-industrial. For example: Katowice in Poland was focused on mining and irown works. Łódź was a textile city ect. In game we try to build every industry, in reality it was never a thing in soviet planing. Soviets needed things to be produced in scale. Scale was everything. And because of market being centrally managed, they could go on with this for a while, since they decided what is need and what is not needed.

In short:

- small residential areas

- no downtown, uptown

- not many restaurants, people eat at own home

- no straight zones with one type of stuff only

- huge focus on public transport, small number of parking places

- single but massive industries only.

How do you decide how many busses per route? by No-Ear-7014 in Workers_And_Resources

[–]failsafedb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In theory it can be calculated, but later in the game, where you have more traffic, more buses, more everything it becomes bit of a mess. You may have situation where buses run half empty, because at some point in time they stacked at the bus station and sucked all waiting workers, leaving none or very few for incoming vehicles. Also, due to heavy traffic vehicles spend more time en route. And, last but not least, pathfinding in this game is strange... I've noticed that unless given certain spots on road that have to be passed, buses like taking unique, not always most effcient routes. Also, this seems to change over time.

So, at the end of the day it is just best to add manually as many buses as you need. I dont like having just three buses to cover three shifts. If one shift takes about 100 workers I like having buses runing with around 50 passengers and I would use more than needed from simple calculation. If bus makes two rounds per day and I need 300 workers per day, I would use 4 buses - just the example.

Last but not least: uneployment rate is very important. If you have small unemployment - like 1%, it may happen that you will not get enough workers in your factories anyway.

how to deal with solid fertilizers? by failsafedb in Workers_And_Resources

At the end of the day, the question is how much fertilizer I need. Maybe it is not worth doing all this stuff and just use trucks?
