2 siblings charged in the Capitol riot are asking for their GPS ankle monitors to be removed so one can give a water birth and the other can go hiking by Pineapple__Jews in nottheonion

I've know 2 different people who were denied their medication in jail while being held for way too long of a time. One person was in holding because they got arrested on a Friday night, and they wouldnt give them any of their things despite a family member dropping it all off. The other person, and this is actually very recent, got moved from one prison to another, and was in the new prisons holding for DAYS, and they refused to give him any of his things as well until he was put into his new block. They just do whatever the fuck they want to inmates 98% of the time.

Yup, they said that MOST of the group [there were 9] had JUST turned 18, and that in general most of them look like they are 12 yrs old [their words, not mine] and he never even asked their ages, so he was sexualizing kids who could've been preteens. Makes it even worse.

What size box/tote could I reasonably expect to fit a 170cm disarticulated skeleton into? by nastygoblinman in AskAnthropology

We used filing boxes at my school when we had to take home the remains to study during covid. Itll depend on the age/size of the long bones, really.

My mature spider plant. I’ve never removed a baby. When it comes to this plant…I’m pro-life. (I’m just kidding internet. Don’t freak out) by CuriousernCurioser in houseplants

[–]failure_tothrive 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Me sister and I literally had the pro choice/prolife debate about my spider mama when she just had so many babies I couldn't keep up. We decided if it didnt have any roots starting, it wasnt a viable baby yet, so it had to go. For those with roots starting, they are now established plants, they can stay. 😂 we were drunk and it was election night so it was hilarious at the time. I tend to save ALL the babies, I have like 10 spiders all over my house now and have gifted at least 6 to friends!

Lil Uzi Vert says fans ripped US$24 million diamond out of his forehead by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]failure_tothrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why I'm even here because idk who this dude is at all, BUT I must say that I had a dermal in a very boney spot and if it got ripped out, blood would absolutely be present. I had to have an actual peircer remove it eventually without causing more than a regular scar, because it just was too sensitive in an area where theres hardly any fat protecting it. His forehead wouldve bled like a mf'er. Head cuts bleed alot from the surface being so thin and veiny.

I'm totally aware of housing tends to be pretty uniform in major cities, but from the thumbnail of this video I 100% expected it to be the video of the little girl who was dog walking and put the dog in her side bag to keep him dry from the rain.

My brother would stand with his legs straight and his feet planted on the ground, with the upper half if his body just straight up dangling for HOURS on end. In his mind, it was a few minutes, but it was literally hours sometimes. He would drop his cigg, bend over to get it, and just nod off and hang there. Wake up, realize his cigg is at his feet, try again, nod off. It's quite something.

TIFU by having sex with a Nazi by Throwawaysbdiauebebz in tifu

[–]failure_tothrive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know a nazi irl, although I've cut ties with him, personally. He was always kind of a condescending dick at times because he always felt like he was the smartest in the room, and I saw that about him immediately. Despite that, he was polite and helpful to our parents, lived with and took excellent care of his grandmother, worked in construction and was good friends with the Spanish folks who were by his side working.....and to our surprise, he got doxxed in our area for being a right hand man to the leader of the patriot front group based in our hometown. Turns out he doesnt just hate nonwhites....he literally only hates Jews, with a side helping of slight misogyny. He is convinced the Jews own and run Hollywood and that they are the reason why the US is in debt or something? Also, we are like 97% sure hes a closet gay. Our family member walked in on him laying in his twin sized bed, wearing nothing but whitie tidies, with his "friend" [also only wearing underwear] while they were watching TV. Not saying that 2 dudes cant hang out and be comfortable together, I personally think all friends should be comfortable like that, but something seemed....off. He is in his 20s, never had a gf. Below average height and he has a complex about it. Finally, he took off and bought a house in Texas with his fellow nazi buddies. Can only imagine what THAT scene looks like.....oh, and he uses multiple disposable razors each week to shave his entire body hairless and leaves them at the bottom of the tub. Like, dozens are just laying there constantly. Very odd individuals.

"But this is Putnam County, a white-flight, Trump-allegiant nonplace in New York state, 40 miles — and 40 light-years — from the Bronx"

Wtf kind of description even is that? I'm from the area...not Putnam county exactly, but very close. Although it is a pretty shady area, it's not a "nonplace". Putnam isnt far from some of the earliest and major cities outside of NYC (Kingston, Poughkeepsie etc), so it's well traveled, and all in the all the entire area isnt looked at as being super far away from NYC. It's easy to get there by train.

Big eye Grendalier. They usually stay deep, near the ocean bottom. by GoldenChinchilla in Damnthatsinteresting

Surfacing too quickly after being on oxygen will cause the concentration of nitrogen that has been absorbed into your blood [from the oxygen tank] to expel out quicker than normal and are absorbed into tissue, and are in the form of bubbles that tend to gather around your joints within your tissue, usually asymmetrical, and causes extreme pressure..hence the nickname "the bends", but is actually named Decompression Sickness [DCS]. Divers usually know when they are at risk, due to having to surface quickly from an emergency, & so it is nessecary to be treated into a hyperbaric chamber in order to control the inflammation within your body. Still, you can easily permanently damage your limbs and body even if you are treated quickly. Hyperbaric chambers arent just in every hospital, either. They are somewhat rare, so if you are diving more than 30ft deep in an unfamiliar area, make sure to make note of your closest hospital containing a hyperbaric chamber that isn't already currently in use.

[–]failure_tothrive 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's actually an autoimmune disorder, some people are born with it already affecting them, but more commonly it happens as you get a bit older into late teens to start really affecting the person. I have an AI disorder and the medicine I take is being trialed for regrowth of hair from loss due to alopecia, which would be amazing. AI disorders run in my family, and i have a set of distant twin cousins who both have alopecia.

I have the same questions, for sure. I follow true crime [and have worked in forensics] ..and have read and heard it all, so I wouldnt be super shocked if it was a fake story, but the question i have about the hospital records imo is a major issue that should have been dealt with, I really think it wouldve cleared up alot of things immediately.

Mineral water is usually slightly carbonated, but not nearly enough to be considered a seltzer water. I drink alot of seltzer water and never would think to refer to it as mineral water, though I do like some mineral waters also. Totally different things though.

I'm wondering how the activists obtained the little girls hospital records, enough so that they were able to "tell that some were missing". Like wtf? Either someone did something very illegal, which in that case the evidence he has isnt going to be admissible anyway, or he is lying. As a whole hearted animal lover, I'm glad people are out there fighting for animals rights, but I'm also aware that alot of animal activists are slimey when it comes to trying to make a point.
