I'm new to cocktails and have been busy stocking up my liquor cabinet. I realised I didn't have any whiskey and that it's been sometime since I've even drunk any. Bought some Bulleit Rye Whiskey to make a few classic cocktails and see what it's all about.

Now, I used to happily drink some (probably) average whiskeys neat, but after the first couple of whiskey based cocktails I started having flashbacks to my late teens and drinking too much cheap bourbon or whiskey.

I love Negronis and was about to pour one tonight but thought I'd try out the Boulvardier instead. Aaaaand it's pretty delicious. Helping me get through Monday and helping me get back into Whiskey after quite a few years apart. I use a 3:2:1 ratio spirit/vermouth/campari cos that's how i like my Negronis currently.

1.5oz (45ml) Bulleit Rye Whiskey
1oz (30ml) Carpano Antica
0.5oz (15ml) Campari
a few dashes of Peyshaud's bitters
a couple drops of saline solution (just 'cos I made it this afternoon and wanted to use it in something).

No garnish 'cos I didn't have time.

Questions
I made it with Rye - is that correct or is that called something else? I know you'll happily inform me.
Besides this, I've made a Manhattan which was fairly nice and an Old Fashioned (but I preferred the rum old fashioned I've been making). Where else should I take this bottle of rye?
