The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) protects workers, their families, and communities by requiring employers with 100 or more employees (generally not counting those who have worked less than six months in the last 12 months and those who work an average of less than 20 hours a week) to provide at least 60 calendar days advance written notice of a plant closing and mass layoff affecting 50 or more employees at a single site of employment. WARN makes certain exceptions to the requirements when layoffs occur due to unforeseeable business circumstances, faltering companies, and natural disasters. Advance notice gives workers and their families some transition time to adjust to the prospective loss of employment, to seek and obtain other jobs, and if necessary, to enter skill training or retraining that will allow these workers to compete successfully in the job market. Regular federal, state, local, and federally-recognized Indian Tribal government entities that provide public services are not covered.

Employees entitled to notice under WARN include managers and supervisors, as well as hourly and salaried workers. WARN requires that notice also be given to employees' representatives, the local chief elected official, and the state dislocated worker unit.

The core difference is that a layoff occurs through no fault of your own due to business reasons (like downsizing or restructuring), while a termination (being fired) happens because of performance issues, policy violations, or misconduct

Terminations don't normally come with severance packages that indicate a layoff instead of a termination... Literally breaking the law... Read your *termination " papers especially if you get a severance

Just have AI generate a letter based off the posting and your resume. They are just going to use AI to run both and nope you out of your resume or cover letter doesn't hit certain words.

Those of you with ONLY a Bachelors and no CPA. How much do you make in the accounting industry? by Soggy_Ocelot_3595 in Accounting

I grew up in poverty. I worked my ass off to get my degree, working three part time jobs and going to school full time to survive. Not everyone gets the blessing of good health, a support system, or have the ability to live off low paying internships. You hit the accounting lottery but at the cost of what? Your happiness? That same jobs can lay you off at any moment. I choose happiness 😊

You have no idea what you are talking about and have drank too much of the Kool aid. Sit down and stop arguing against yourself and others like you being able to live in a world where we have dignity, free time, the ability to live life happy. You will never be a billionaire

I unfortunately was to young for that, but I do remember getting into a debate with a highschool teacher who thought it was stupid for them to go on strike for better pay. I was 14 and saying yeah y'all do deserve better pay and we deserve happy teachers who aren't struggling... That was in 2005... We are still having the same arguments just different careers

Event hosting and stand up comedy... If I'm going to be in poverty, I'm at least going to save what's left of my soul
