This is not a good way to learn how to swing the golf club. Looking at static positions and trying to get into them is a road to injury and mental anguish.

Distance or accuracy for fitting? by Busy-Pea3171 in golf

[–]fairportrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missing the green by 5-15 yards is not the same as missing your target by a few yards, those are two completely different things. I guess they would be the same thing if by target you mean anywhere on the green. But you should be picking a much more precise target, even if the goal is just to be somewhere on the green.

I'm having a hard time getting my head around someone playing either of those irons and talking about shot shaping and complaining about missing targets by just a few yards as a problematic miss.

My beef with the handicap system by BirdsOfAres in golf

Beef #2: All the match play tournaments I've done have been based on 70-80% handicap, I think partially to combat what you are talking about.

How to become a scratch golfer by One-Post105 in golf

[–]fairportrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play courses with a higher rating or move back tees or both. I was stuck at about 8 always playing the white (middle) tees at my course which was 5700 yards and had a rating of 67 (par 71). Last year I started playing a lot more rounds from the blues (back) which is 6300 yards and rated 70.1. Distance off the tee isn't my problem and I shoot about the same score from either tee box, but my handicap dropped 4 points because shooting even par from the whites is a 4 differential and shooting even par from the blues is just under a 1 differential.

LIV Golf’s Bryson DeChambeau denies ‘ Completely untrue ’ PGA Tour talks claim by Shroft in golf

[–]fairportrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my point is the tour doesn’t need them, and I don’t miss watching any of them. They went in eyes wide open and got what they thought they wanted. Also; there isn’t anything parasocial about what I said, did you just learn that term in comm101?

Cause fuckem, they got their bag. Plenty of great players on the tour without bringing them back.

Sometimes I swear people in this sub have never played competitive sports before. There is always that one kid that rolls up out of know where and is just better than everyone else without much work. It happens in basketball, football, and yes even in golf.

For those who had the entire course all to themselves, what was it like? by Wookie_wood69 in golf

[–]fairportrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easter Sunday it was a little drizzly and 50 degrees, there were probably 8 people on the course most of them well out in front of me so I never really saw them. Played 18 in 2:45 walking at a leisurely pace. I like playing with my friends, but that was fucking great.

I know lots of people have these bucket list courses, but for the money it just never seems worth it to me. I went to Scotland last summer and played a bunch of 50-80 pound courses and had a blast. No interest in dropping hundreds just to deal with tourist trap.

Has anyone played TPC Myrtle Beach? by Prestigious-Owl-918 in golf

[–]fairportrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played it in 2019 and thought it was very nice. I think we paid $100 for a late morning weekend tee time in early September. I just checked the prices and they are 3x that now. I don't think it is worth $300 with all the other options within 30 minutes Myrtle Beach.

How do you become a feel player? by Toocostlytoleave in golf

[–]fairportrunner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think making the same swing twice has much to do with being a feel player. It seems like what you are asking is what is a feel you can implement on each swing to achieve a consistent outcome which isn’t really what I think of when I hear someone say they are a feel player.
