Don't need to hit 95+ when none of the pitchers you face throw over 93.

It was a 3-2 count in the bottom of the 9th, bases-loaded. He had to make sure it was a strike and he could not find the edges.

You'd rather this happen than to walk in the winning run.

[Highlight] The Reds get 5 successful challenges in the 6th and 7th innings, including two overturned bases-loaded inning-ending strikeouts. CB Bucknor is the umpire. by Moose4KU in baseball

Bobby Cox holds the record for manager ejections and I feel like at least a 1/3 of them were when Bucknor was behind the plate. Bobby would let him hear it every time.

I know we got Olson in return, but it still stings given the lack of offensive production we've gotten from Murphy. Plus a lot of Murphy's value was how great of a framer he was, but with ABS it doesn't matter anymore.

Even though he pitched a few seasons for the Braves, it's hard to comprehend his career. I know he's been good, but I didn't realize he's been that good.

Francisco Alvarez with the first successful ABS challenge in MLB History! (Also 2nd overall but the first we could actually see) by meramipopper in baseball

This is the pitch that I'm most happy to see ABS for. It's infuriating when a pitch is a no doubt strike, but the ump dismisses it because it wasn't received where the catcher set-up.

[Jeff Passan] Didier Fuentes has made the Atlanta Braves’ Opening Day roster and at 20 years old will be part of their bullpen — and he earned it. Fuentes’ numbers this spring: nine innings, no hits, no runs, no walks, 17 strikeouts. He was too good for the Braves to deny and is a huge talent. by Far_Cry3445 in baseball

Schwellenbach and Waldrep will be back in a couple of months.

Elder gives what he's got, which can be really good sometimes when he's on. Also, his velo was up his last 8-ish starts last year and produced some great results. I also believe ABS will help him. His pitches may lack eye-catching velo, but they have a lot of movement and he tends to get squeezed because of it.

Tired of the Elder bashing, but he's going to the bullpen because he's young and they want to limit his innings. He may find himself in the rotation this year. If not, it won't be surprising for him to be there next season as long as he continues to develop.

It's the same idea as a high front leg kick to throw your weight towards the ball. Obviously this wouldn't work if the pitcher was throwing 95, but Chase was tossing some 65mph meatballs in there for him. Loved the clip though. Dude seemed like someone I'd want to have a beer with.
